I started listening to the audiobook of Ender's Game and by gods I hate the two guys having a discussion at the beginning of the chapters. I wish I could grab this kid and take him out of this story and away from what is coming.

I am making my brother read The Final Empire by Bradnon Sandersen by being his reading buddy (we are trying this fun new thing for him which is 'reading a goddamn book') and like ... i am reading chapter 27 of The Viridescent Tiara and Eustaph is a stronger man than me because if the crown prince suggested to me to conspire with him to forcefully impregnate anyone let alone my love interest, I would be executed for treason bc he would not ne walking out of that room.

We saw someone actually try this plot with Lan and how Eustaph dealt with that, so I can be patient bc the pay off will be worth it

i need to scream about how Eustaph's POV part of the first chapter describes Lan

"Her soft, sparkling flaxen hair. Her dark green eyes, like a tree in summer. She possessed the beauty of a ripe apple and sunlight, rare in the north and certainly precious."

Yep, that's my ship right there.

Also, the novel confirming that in four years Lan was the only one who wrote letters to Eus and visited him?? she gave him pocket money??

The novel of The Viridescent Tiara is available on Tapas in English and tho one comment is sceptical about the translator and I too have some reservations seeing how 60% of the first chapter were couple of words long sentences that could have been easily combined into a more complex sentence, I am excited to be able to read it since the mawha is on hiatus.

So I guessed that Eco was doing a Sherlock Holmes-esque story from the beginning of the prologue when he introduced his Watson character, and with each line of description of William Baskerville, he sounds more like Holmes. Especially the maybe-alleged drug habit...?

On occasion a vacant, absent expression appeared in his eyes, and I would have suspected he was in the power of some vegetal substance capable of producing visions if the obvious temperance of his life had not led me to reject this thought.
