June Gehringer, “I get so jealous of euthanized dogs”
[Text ID: “the worst thing about love is / i remember it. / i walk around all day / thinking: i’m going to die / in the universe / you loved me in.”]
It has been years, but some days I still find myself shouting into the void, hoping one day the echo of my voice might once again reach your ears.
"Its my biggest flaw, the way I never learned to let go, all that love just laying, rotting inside my ribcage."
Nothing in me is healing like they say it should, all these strings are still broken, my heart full of loose ends, closure has no home here. My mistakes stay caught like a lump in my throat I can never swallow enough to get the taste of regret out of my mouth.
“Sooner or later I’m going to have to think about it and then I’m going to be a mess.”
— Unknown
And by the time he shows up, knocking on my door, my name the next uncrossed on the list clutched in his gnarled hands, death will greet me as an old friend, he has visited my home, and my body too many times to ever be called stranger. When death arrives I will allow him to take me by the hand without protest, though I do not believe in heaven, nor hell, i will follow him into the darkness without fear in hopes there is another side, that my soul may be free to wonder, in search of the two that I was condemned to spend a lifetime aching for.
I wish I could live a little more Look up to the sky, not just the floor I feel like my life is flashing by And all I can do is watch and cry

I wish I had known then that no matter how happy I ended up the ghosts of what we could have been would always hollow out enough room in my chest to dance in. I hope you do not remember me the way that I remember you.
“I write differently from what I speak, I speak differently from what I think, I think differently from the way I ought to think, and so it all proceeds into deepest darkness.”

This is undoubtedly my spirit animal.
I don’t think I have ever seen a dog show straight up unabashed disgust to anything.
I don't know how to say it, that my hearts not in it, my heart is at the club and my hair smells like the cologne of the stranger I danced with last night, honestly my heart is in Chicago, Tennessee, somewhere in the middle of the damn ocean but mostly, my heart is halfway across the states knocking on the door of the past that it refuses to give up on, how stubborn it sits in the silence, how long it waits for an answer.
I have never loved me like I love you.
I have never seen me like I see you.
I’m never needing myself like I need you.
I never believed, like I believe in you
