Hiiii.

9 days post total thyroidectomy. I had a 1.2 cm papillary carcinoma.

Mayo hospital is hands down the best facility I have ever encountered. From the first phone call, I knew i was in the right place.

The first week was rouuggghhh. I tried to go back to work Monday and thay did not go well at all. So I ended up taking the week. But today finally feels like i can be a human.

An update:

I've spent the last month checking out my thyroid, sort of on a fluke...

My biopsy results came back "suspicious for papilary malignancy" or a Bethesda category 5 nodule. This, with the BRAF postive result means I have a greater than 95% chance of thyroid cancer.

Today I met with an endocrinologist at Mayo Clinic and we have decided to have a total thyroidectomy due to family history and being BRAF positive, which I expected would be the call. He was actually a little shocked I didnt have a list of questions for him. I was probably his easiest appointment he's ever had.

I feel very blessed to have grown up around family who had thyroid issues so I know it's a "simple, best case" sort of situation of all the ones you could ask for. I have had great conversations that have put my mind as much at ease as I think I could be.

My next step is a surgery consultation and then I will get to schedule the removal. As it turns out I'm apparently wildly impatient.

I am wildly exhausted to my core. On to having a sweet matching scar with my momma.
