I finally finished this last night..well this morning about 3 in the AM. It was a fantastic read and I really can not wait for the nest installment in the series.
So much has happened to the characters and I can't help but be connected to them. I am totally rooting for the following matches: Clary/Jace, Isabelle/Simon, Magnus/Alec, Luke/Joclyn, and Maia/Jordan. It just seems that all of these people complement each other so well and I love me a good love match.
So this book takes place in a bout a week, maybe less. There is a new foe in town and she has everyone all mixed up. And to make things even worse, she isn't the only bad guy this time around. There is someone else pulling the strings that may be even worse. Also, someone is sending people after Simon and his mark of Cain is turning them into salt... Totally cool protection, but it is kinda messing with Simon, he feels terrible. Along with the kidnappers, a very old Downworlder has decided that she wants Simon on her team, but can he trust someone he has only heard of??
Jace, after all the crazy in his life, is having bad dreams about hurting Clary. They are so in love and he is scared to hurt her so he keeps avoiding her which makes her upset and in turn hurts her. But I mean really, he grew up thinking he was a Wayland, then found out that the guy who raised him was actually a psycho, and to top it all off he was actually some other guys son in the end. Not to mention the whole dying and being brought back to life thing. Jace has had it rough and things just don't seem to be getting better. The dreams that he has been having may be the work of external forces. And I want so bad to tell you what happens at the end of the book and who else besides Jace it involves, but I just can't ruin that....
Poor Clary is worried about Jace and Simon, but she has to keep helping out with her mom and Luke's wedding plans. The wedding doesn't happen in this book, but it is getting close, I hope... Along with that, the Seelie Queen has seemed to take an interest in her life, which can only be troublesome. Though the Fair Folk do not lie, they will twist and manipulate the truth and it just causes trouble. Also, you don't want to owe them favors. For some reason the Queen thinks that Clary will need her in some way and so she has sent a way to summon a knight to take Clary to the court. The last time Clary went to the court she has almost been trapped there by manipulation and tricks.. She doesn't want the Queen's help or interest at all, but how can she really say no to just accepting a way to contact her.
Oh Simon, Simon, Simon... he has decided to try and date 2 girls without really meaning too. Bigger problem: they are kinda friends, well they know each other. Poor Simon. And then he gets kicked out of his house, kinda, and the guy he ends up living with is the werewolf who happened to be the one who changed one of Simons "girlfriends" into a wolf herself. Oh, and Jordan is still in love with Maia and is pissed that Simon is 2 timing her, but he can't really do anything about it.
So I am going to wrap this up. This book is a mess, but soooo good. There is love, betrayal, secrets, and things relieved that are very interesting. Friends are hiding things from one another and it seems like even families are not communicating well. If they had been things may have ended a lot differently and maybe even better than they did. There is a darkness that is trying to creep into people and it is strong, something that these guys have never seen before. Hopefully love will beat it, but is love stronger than the forces that they are fighting??
