@ashleygruber took an incredible series of shots of @fabian_cancellara after he finished his time trial yesterday. The more I see them, the more I think that they’re some of my all-time favorites. They also happen to be of one of our favorite riders. So happy to hear that Cancellara is in Yellow. The sport and everyone who loves bike racing will miss him when he retires - I hope he goes out with a huge bang the rest of this season and the next. #tdf2015

I’m losing my identity as a peasant from Boyaca. I know this; I’m traveling all over the world to races. But I have not forgotten the countryside. I have some cattle here and I have someone who takes care of them, and when I’m finished with competitive cycling I will return to my roots. This is my region. Race coach Shaun Stephens said;  “That was a really nice gesture from them and we appreciate it a lot. Things like that really show the spirit of cycling and we can’t thank them enough... [o]ur climber Sebastian is going to be riding on that one today because it’s a sprint stage and we’ve had to work with what sizes are available, and then CJ [Sutton] is probably going to ride it tomorrow.”

Henao finished 12 seconds back on GC on stage one, while Sutton came in 6′44″ down on stage 2, neither rider appears to have been penalised for using ‘non-regulation assistance’

Went at this one really trying to illustrate the position battles throughout the race (check the Milan-Sanremo Recon Ride preview for more on why I think that’s important). The production work on RAI’s side was actually a little sloppy—lots of untimely cuts, graphics floating over important sections of the pack, misapplied chyrons, etc. Fortunately, in spite of all that, the racing delivered.

Karma points to Lotto-Soudal for staying with Tinkoff rider Chris Juul-Jensen—who most likely had a concussion after his crash—until medics arrived.
