IGDA NYC is teaming up with Playcrafting NYC to present our second biannual NYC Games & Digital Media Career Fair for Spring 2016. We're bringing together employers and job-seekers at this one-day event showcasing the exciting opportunities and diverse talent pool in the local game development and digital media industries. This year, the event is hosted by Microsoft at their offices in Times Square. Employer & Recruiter Tabling Local companies are seeking talent for exciting opportunities in game development, digital media, technology, and VR. Here are a few of our featured employers and recruiters: Apex Systems: The 2nd largest IT staffing firm in the country has partnered together with a new Advanced Concepts Engineering team focused on building a custom Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality platform for a Fortune 50 company – a custom, 3D game engine for new R&D initiatives. Selected openings: OpenGL Game Developers, Agile Project Managers, 3D Audio Engineers, UI/UX Designers, 3D Modelers... Zynga is a leading developer of the world's most popular social games. Our mission is to connect the world through games, and since 2007, more than one billion people have played one of our beloved franchises like FarmVille, Zynga Poker and Words With Friends. In 2015 Zynga acquired Rising Tide Games that based in NYC. The team continues to develop and operate a premium social casino product called Black Diamond Casino. Selected openings: Client Side Engineer, Lead Flash Engineer, Product Manager, QA Analyst, VIP Account Manager / Social Media... Plus: LiquidTalent Sketchfab Cognitive ToyBox Studio Transcendent ...and more! Are you an employer or recruiter in game development, digital media, creative technology, or a related field with open positions to fill in NYC? Tables are available! Please get in touch at [email protected] to register for a free table or find out if this event is the right fit for your company. One-on-One Reviews We'll have a team of experts available for one-on-one sessions with job-seekers to answer questions, review your resume, portfolio, or code, and conduct mock interviews. Sign up onsite with one of our volunteers specializing in art, programming, design, production, music/audio, writing, or QA, and get some expert advice, help polishing your application materials, or a chance to brush up on your interview skills. Social Mixer & Afterparty After the fair wraps up, there will be a social mixer nearby where participants can mingle and make connections over food and drinks. The career fair will run from noon to 6pm, and the mixer will start at 6 and run until 9pm. Because space is limited, we are issuing staggered admission tickets. When registering, you may select your admission time and optionally register for the mixer, or register for the mixer only. The mixer portion will be held offsite at a location TBA. If you are attending the mixer only, please check back for exact location details. SEEKING VOLUNTEERS! Are you an experienced professional who would like to help others in the community? We’re looking for volunteers to offer one-on-one resume and portfolio reviews, code reviews, and mock interviews to attendees. You can sign on to offer feedback and critique in one or more of the following areas: Art, Programming, Design, Production, Music/Audio, Writing, QA, Entry Level, Tech & Media, or General. If you’re interested, please contact us at [email protected]. If you'd like to join our volunteer list to participate in future events, please consider registering as an IGDA NYC volunteer. Yordy Torres Final Project
Link to Github repository, as far as I got: https://github.com/YordyTorres/GhostReclaimer
I was able to write the code for the player movement, aiming & Jumping/Hovering, as well as the code for aiming. The issues came with the shooting which I never really got to work, and due to that inconvenience + my serious lack of time thanks to my horrible working schedule, I wasn’t able to advance any further. I really hope to finish this project but as of today, this is as far as I got. PS: The “Building for Web GL” so that I can put it on Itch.io dind’t work either :’(
Here is a guide for how to remove a giant file from your repository.

Only one issue with enemy shooting code to resolve
Zeno final update
https://github.com/Xeno33/Extincting_Ways.git
There are issues with the collider between the enemy and the player. The enemy will float towards the player and deal damage but eventually fly away while the weapon on the player does not register the attack and destroy the enemy. Along with lighting issue that can be easily changed, the damage problem is a curse to the game.
Melissa Velez- Final Update
I still encountered a lot of issues making the game. I tried making the enemies follow the player, but they either don’t or they get stuck in between the walls. Then I try having them patrol the area and that didn’t go so well either. As far as triggering the level complete event went, I couldn’t figure out how to get the screen to say “Level Complete”. Either way, here are the files in github.

Jose Deschamps Final Project
Unfortunately My github files have gotten corrupt during a future update and now won’t let me update the current files. I’m stuck with commit merge error, which I can’t post my repository at the moment. I will be addressing this issue as soon as I can and will be re-posting.
Here a link to my GITHub, I will be updating it shortly.

L.Zeno Jr (Extra Credit Chronicles 3)
The last trip finish at the PlayCrafting Expo two weeks ago. Here, a large number of participants display there games, including two that I have met during the Indiecade event. Unlike Indiecade, there were no special controllers made other than the VR’s that were used for various games. However, Game Designers and Developers created some unique games that are either still under develop or is out on our app stores and networks. I spoken to a developer who created a hybrid verse of Spacewar, a game I was able to capture in an instant and able to understand what he wanted to created compare to others who only think of the successor Asteroid. This event was also the first time I have experience VR other than the sensor from another class. It was a thrilling experience, but due to the temperature in the room and the graphics, it was also nauseating. However, unlike most digital games, say a game with a fish and a kitten inside a washing machine, what captures me the most was a card game that is similar to Cards Against Humanity. It’s call “Detective Bullshit” and the object of the game is to make up a story of who is the culprit and how he he/she/it commit the perfect crime. It’s a game I see helps build an imagination, although coming up with one and explaining it can be difficult, and something that would bring friends together.   Â
