There are people who believe that bullying is “things kids do” and brush it off. It isn’t until they see it, in graphic detail, that they can get it and understand what a victim endured.

The Glory demonstrated this when the police dismissed the reports by Dong Eun.

Later, even Do Yeong, after seeing her scars, considers revenge pointless and thought that it was best to “move on.”

The marks alone, for many, aren’t enough to justify her actions. Many viewers might have thought the same as them had they not seen the bullying explicitly.

It had to be painfully clear how awful these people were and how terrible it was that she survived all this so that viewers wouldn’t think her revenge wasn’t justified.

There was never a moment where the show glorified violence or any depravity in it. Those hard to watch scenes were there for a narrative purpose that was effective for the message the writer wanted to convey.

Not every show that is graphic has shock value as the end goal. I know it’s hard for a lot of people to understand this since many shows in the west are basically violence porn that serves no real narrative purpose, but The Glory wasn't it.

I also don't like the message of her being worthy of redemption or a second chance if she's nice and cute.
