Valiksis grimaced when she tightened the bandages around the dregās waist. She had primitive and little supplies but⦠She remained quiet, expertly tying the bandages while Yaviks recovered. She recalled meeting the dreg once before, but they had gone their separate ways since. Valiksis had found the young dreg after a patrol of Cabal had left the area and she ended up dragging the other female back to her hidden camp. Since then sheād been busy in patching up the wounds, glad to see that Yaviks was alive at least, but certainly not out of the woods yet.
āHush..ā She urged gently at the Dregās words.Ā āI am not so cruel to leave someone in need to freeze or bleed to death, even if my own circumstances are not pleasant.ā She spoke softly, just over the crackle of the nearby fire sheād started. At that, she scooted back a bit to admire her handiwork.
āLie down, get some rest. I will attempt to find something for your fever.ā At that, she stood, keeping a secondary hand over her belly as she shuffled to some old rotten shelves where she had some items stored away. It was obvious sheād been living here for a while, as she pulled a container of ether from a middle shelf and brought it over to Yaviks. She handed it out toward her, staring intently.
āHere. Youāll need to get your strength back.ā
Usually one to argue a bit more, Yaviks just couldn't find the energy to insist further. Instead, she listened to what the other eliksni said -- coming to nod slowly and nestle into a comfortable position when told to lay down. The world around her felt like it was spinning so she pressed her eyes shut tightly until it stopped.
So warm. So tired. Within seconds, she was dozing off on the floor, the gentle sounds of Valiksis shuffling through her supplies drowned out by the crackle of the fire. She was practically asleep when the voice came again, jolting her body and causing her gaze to flash upwards. Confused for a short second, her eyes focused slowly on what was being offered to her -- ether.
Slowly, she let herself sit up again, one of her weak secondary arms clutching at her wounded side. Instinct told her to reach for it, and she started to, an almost greedy glint in her eye. But as her fingers came a few inches from the container, she stopped herself.
"... Are you certain?" She asked, her voice somewhat strained and her throat feeling dry. Out here? Yaviks should take every ounce of ether she could get. It was scavenger's life, one that should mean she only cared for herself. And, yet, there was still a tinge of guilt. Valiksis could easily need it more than she did, and that alone kept her from accepting it instantly.
