“Alright then.” She replied before going to the fridge to dig out a couple eggs. She knelt down, putting the eggs on the counter and came back up from the cabinets with a skillet. Turning on the burner, she reached up and grabbed a bowl from the shelf. One of the nice things about some of these family owned motels is they sometimes provided dishes to use, as long as you took care of them and cleaned them, it wasn’t a big deal which she really appreciated. Lugging around dishes wasn’t something that was feasible when you were on the move. “How about we split the cost of the ice cream? Is that fair?” She asked before cracking an egg into the bowl and putting the shell on the counter.

Cas tilted his head slightly and then shrugged, leaning forward and resting on his elbows. “Wouldn’t it be more fair if we didn’t split the cost… since I’m not exactly helping with your living situation…” he asked, narrowing his eyes after another moment, thinking over his next comment and finding himself questioning why he was considering doing it, but then he actually spoke it. “… I can steal it…” Dean and Sam did that kind of thing. Stole. Maybe that’s just what he was supposed to do too.

“Does fairness really matter among friends when one needs help?” She questioned. If it wasn’t for their meeting and becoming friends so many years ago she knew she would have been out on the streets, trying to figure out things as she went, all the while being completely lost. Cas’s company was something that kept her sane and off the streets. At his suggestion, she shook her head. “We don’t have to steal anything. We have the money that can cover something like that. Stealing wouldn’t benefit anyone.”

“Well, stop being so skeptic about my inventions if you don’t want to get shot with them.” Priest stated, shrugging. “Her name is Ethel, by the way, and it’s a genius idea.”

“You’re going to have to get used to skepticism, kid, but I can guarantee you, you don’t need any doubts about a bullet going in your ass the next time you shoot me with anything.”  He dusted the holy water off of himself. “B’sides, the thing working on me doesn’t really prove much, we’re not hunting humans the last time I checked. You and your little group just test these things on the fly?”

“Where else are we supposed to test them?” He asked, sitting down for a moment to make some tweaks. “It’s not as if we have test subjects or something.”

“Well, it wouldn’t be the first time people have had experimentation chambers.” Dean shrugged his shoulders, though admittedly he and Sam had to go on a whim to make witch killing bullets that they weren’t completely sure would work, it was a matter of luck that what little info they had just so happened to be right. “What happens if these things don’t work out in the field? Those brothers have back up plans?” He questioned, realizing how quickly things could turn if a weapon failed.

Priest scratched at his neck, shrugging. In theory, everything he made worked, but sometimes he goofed up and something would go wrong. No one had gotten hurt, though. Not yet, anyway. “Usually they do. Plus they’ve usually got Alara and me in case something happens.”

Dean listened but every time he seemed to talk to one of the little troupe of teens that were fighting the supernatural, he seemed to find out that there were more of them. Their web of connections to one another seemed to get bigger and bigger which made Dean wonder why he hadn’t heard of them before. “Well, for you and your friend’s safety, I hope that never happens. So who’s this Alara?”

Priest seemed a bit more excited to talk about Alara, smiling. “She’s basically our leader. Jared tries to say he’s in charge, but he’s not. Alara is the oldest in the group, and she’s our sigil and ward expert.”

Dean could see how much the kid perked up at the mention of their other team member. Maybe he had a crush on her or something. He remembered one of the boys mentioning she was 18 but that had never stopped a teenager from forming a crush before. “How long have you all been working together like this?”

“About a year. We’re still looking for our fifth member.” Chris stated, his smile faltering for just a second. “We’ve actually got a mission to work towards, y'know. It’s not like we do this for fun.” He stated, chuckling dryly.

Dean didn’t know how he felt about this group trying to recruit new members. Kids hunting never sat well with him even though he spent all his teenage years hunting with his dad until he was able to hunt solo in his early 20′s, that probably had something to do with it, he felt like he had missed any sense of normalcy and he knew his brother did too because of their lifestyle. However these kids seemed more organized than what he had expected, he just hoped there wasn’t something darker going on in this little group. “So, what’s your mission? All of you have the same goal in mind?”

Priest nodded, playing with the cord of his headphones. They were draped around his neck, and it honestly just made him look more like a kid. “There’s this weapon thing we’re all trying to find. If we can find it and put it together it’s supposed to keep this scary demon dude away.”

“Demon?” Dean asked, demons were something he knew all too well, if there was a big bad one, there was no way he hadn’t come across the name in one way or another. Maybe he and Sam could help these kids take the guy out, after all, having a high power demon running around wasn’t something that could just be ignored. “You know this demon’s name?”

“Yup. But I’m probably not supposed to tell you. I’m surprised the others would even let you in here.” Priest stated, shrugging. For now, their little home base was a warehouse that was partitioned off with old, blue tarps. Priest’s ‘room’ consisted of a workbench and two medium sized storage containers that were full of all sorts of metal scraps and random parts. There was a mattress on the floor to use as a bed, and the window above his workbench was lined with salt.

“The twins worked with me and my brother on a case, must have made a good impression for them to let us know about this little troupe you all have going.” Dean pointed out, he wanted to check out what they had going on and with all the weapon enhancements the twins had, there might have been something they could use, even some new ideas. “My brother and I have taken out a few demons the past few years, maybe we could help.” He suggested, leaving out the fact that they had taken on the devil himself.

Starter Call

Hey everyone! I’ve got a day off to relax for the holiday before work starts back up, so I want to do an open starter call out to anyone and everyone in the hopes of starting new threads, meeting new people, and exploring new plots!

Here are some things that aren’t required

-You do not have to be following me to get a starter.

-The blog you use to like this for a starter doesn’t need to be your main, I know the struggle of having a side blog as your rp blog, just drop a url off in a comment or in an ask and I’ll put a mention so you’re alerted to it.

-You do not have to have long extensive bios on your character, personally I like having my characters develop along with my threads, my bios for my different characters are just short little blurbs to be honest and while I like reading through character bios it’s not a requirement.

One thing I would like to have is a rules page to reference to to make sure I’m not writing about any of your triggers or anything like that. (Personally I have very few of those so I don’t want to upset someone with a starter designed for them.) However if you don’t have a rules page, simply letting me know what they are in a short message will do just fine.

I’m also going to be posting opens and starter memes in a bit that anyone is welcome to reply or send in however I would like to start with starters targeted at specific muses. OCs always welcome for both.

So please like this if you would like a starter written for you, leave a comment if you would prefer the starter to be from a specific muse (I’m multi-muse and have a lot of canon characters and one little baby oc), or if you have a multi-muse blog and want the starter to be aimed at one of your many muses. “Fair enough, I should have opened with the why. I’m a friend of Dean…” Mina replied honestly.

“He ran into some trouble a while back–got on the wrong end of a poorly made hex bag–and I saved him. He was working a case in New Orleans, alone. I guess it was when you were…else where,” she blinked at him, not knowing if bringing up the cage was the smartest idea right now. 

“He sent me a text saying he was in the area, so when I saw the car…” she shrugged. “Let’s just say I wasn’t expecting to run into you.”

At her mention of his brother, Sam could feel his shoulders relax and the scowl on his face fell away, being replaced by furrowed brows. He didn’t know that Dean had been hunting after he fell in the pit, he didn’t really talk about it much, the only part that Sam had heard about was after Dean had found him without his soul, before the wall in his mind was put up. He hardly even talked about Lisa, resorting to anger instead whenever Sam ever asked about it. But what she said made sense, Dean hated witches with a passion, the fact that he had ended up on the bad side of one of them wasn’t all that surprising. “Alright.” He muttered and went towards the fridge for a beer, satisfied with her answer. “He’s a few blocks away, talking to the family of one of the victims. Should be back pretty soon.”

Mina blinked with surprise at Sam lowering his guard so quickly. She knew knowing Dean would explain her being there, but she had no idea how suspicious Sam would be of her. Especially, catching her in his room without any warning she’d be there. However, she knew he mood would change drastically if/when he found out she was a witch. If Dean hadn’t told Sam about knowing her, there’s no way in hell he’d have mentioned what she was, and how she saved him. 

 "Good, ok…“ Mina nodded, watching him cross the room to get a drink. She stood awkwardly next to the table for a few moments, running her hand along the edge of the tacky varnished wood. "Victim?” she replied. “I kinda figured it wasn’t leisure that brought you to town, what’s happened?”

Sam cracked open the beer and took out another one, offering it to her. “Not sure yet, just got word of it two days ago.” He commented, furrowing his brows as he thought of the body they managed to take a peek of at the coroners. “The victim had shallow cuts all over him, hundreds of them, but no fatal injuries. The cuts must have cause him to just bleed out.” The thought of what must have happened was hard to imagine, the guy must have bled out slowly, it must have been incredibly painful. “Did you get a keycard from the guy at the front office?” He asked her, still not sure of how she managed to get into the room, even if she was here to see Dean, he didn’t understand why she went into the room instead of them finding some place in town to meet up.

Dean rolled his eyes at Cas’s comment and picked up the burger again, taking another bite. With everything that was going on he hadn’t eaten since yesterday, and frankly he wasn’t known to be the most reliable person on an empty stomach. Of course he didn’t expect this angel to understand that. When Cas went off on him, he could feel himself becoming more frustrated. He wasn’t a robot, he couldn’t run on air alone, and Cas was acting like this lunch was going to cause the fall of man. “I’m not a machine, man. I have to eat, sleep, all that other shit humans need to keep going. It might be an inconvenience to you but it’s a necessity to both me and Sam along with every other human on the planet. You giving me the stink eye and a lecture while I’m eating isn’t going to change that. Eat first, fight the apocalypse afterwards. So until you drag my happy ass up to Heaven with whatever threat you’re trying to convince me with and somehow figure out how you can make me function without basic human needs, you’re gonna have to just sit there and let me eat, or don’t. You have all of Heaven and Earth to jump around to, I’m still going to eat my food so I actually can fight all that evil in the world  and end this destiny bullshit.” He spouted off for a while before taking another bite. One thing he hated was getting rushed while having a bite, it was one of the few worldly pleasures he was allotted and he felt he had a right to enjoy it.

Cas only squinted at Dean more after that, resisting the all too human urge to cross his arms. Angels didn’t pout. 

With a huff he turned his squint into a glare though, shifting forward and getting out of the booth to stand watch at the entry door to the diner, his brows creased in the center and his posture stiff and tall. But the more he thought it over the more annoyed at Dean’s pettiness he became. With a blink he was back at the table, Bobby was sent elsewhere and he glanced down at Dean still sitting. “You have no idea the gravity of this situation do you?” he set two fingers between Dean’s brows- instantly transporting them to a quiet room, pale in color. Clean– a little too clean, almost pristine. The weird ringing dying down to nothing. “The angels will do anything to get you to say yes, do you not realize that. They’ll take everything you have, everything you’ve wanted, anything you have once had. All of it.

 Do you not understand? If you let Sam break this seal, you will seal his fate. You will lose your brother, this isn’t a what if, Dean. They’ll take Sam. Lucifer will possess him and kill him. Sam will cease to be- you can eat later. I’m not asking to be your friend, I’m asking you to listen to me. If you want Sam alive, keep the seal unbroken.” He set his fingers against Dean’s head again, sending him back to the diner where his food remained untouched and time had practically stood still.

Dean flinched at Cas’s sudden re-appearance and turn to look at Bobby only to see his empty seat. “Oh, he’s gonna be pissed.” Dean muttered, nothing worse than a grumpy old man who was also hungry. He returned his gaze to Cas, returning the same glare he shot at him. Before he could even respond to the angel’s question he found himself backing off from his touch, knowing all too well what it meant but Cas managed to reach him and before he knew it, that same familiar sick jolt went through him, causing his head to spin and in a blink of an eye he was in a completely unfamiliar room. He didn’t expect Cas to get this pissed and go this far, let alone the tongue lashing he would receive. “Are  you out of your damn mind?”  He shouted before Cas started nailing into him.  It didn’t seem like the angel liked any backtalk since again the touch caused the same sensation to pass through his being and he found himself again in the diner. He pressed his palm into his forehead in an attempt to stop the room from spinning. Bobby wasn’t back yet, he noticed, and he swallowed hard, nausea strong in his stomach, and pushed the plate away. “The seals. You mean the same ones that you didn’t tell us about until after they started breaking? The ones where despite having an army, you don’t know which the next ones are, but you expect us to constantly be up to battle every second of our lives?” He shot back, keeping his voice low. “And Sam.” His voice shook. “The sooner you can tell me where the Hell he is, the sooner I can stop him, and get him off of the power trip that his fucking addiction is putting him on.” Where Cas got in his mind that barking orders with no solution was going to help anything, Dean had no idea. With that he stood from the booth, dropped what money he and Bobby would owe, and headed towards the door. “Getting the old man back, the only one who actually has the books and the research to help in breaking the seals, is probably a great idea.”

"Hey I brought somethin over for the new year!"

“Are they poppers? Fireworks?”

“Yes! I got color bombd, poppers, sparklers, different kinds of fireworks, bottle rockets, vodka gummy bears….”

“I’m not familiar with half of those. Vodka gummy bears?”

“Oh those are not fireworks. You take gummy bears and soak them overnight in vodka then drain them and you get boozy gummy bears.”

“I didn’t think they were fireworks.” He said, looking at all the stuff she was carrying in. “Wouldn’t the vodka ruin the taste of the gummy bears? Wouldn’t they get soggy and slimy?”

“Hey fireworks have weird names. And not really. It is like a gummy jello shot. And nope the gummy sucks up all the vodka like a little gummy sponge.”

“I see that.” He commented, eyeing the ‘Vengeful Texan’ firework that peeked through the bag. He didn’t understand why fireworks couldn’t just be named after the colors they made, they basically all ended up looking like flowers anyway. “Spongey gummies…”  He muttered, unsure of how appetizing they sounded. “I’ll try one if you eat one first.”

“No problem.” This wasn’t the first time she made vodka gummy bears and she had been munching on a few earlier to day. Opening the tupperware dish she popped a few in her mouth. “I love um.”

Cas watched her for a moment, they did look good, he just couldn’t imagine alcohol mixing well with any gelatin and tasting anything but gross. However, when she ate a few and seemed to enjoy it he reached into the Tupperware and pulled out a couple. They felt swollen and mushy and a little damp but he popped them in his mouth regardless. He was surprised they didn’t burst in his mouth however  the sweetness had the distinct burn of alcohol mixed in. “They’re not bad.” He commented, taking a few more out and popping them in his mouth. “Strange, though.”

“It’s not about your mistakes, Cas. That’s not what it is. It’s just something that can’t be fixed so what’s the point of talking about it?” Sam questioned, an expression on his face that reflected he had no desire to talk about it. “I mean, she died, it happens all the time, and there’s no fixing it. There’s no helping it.” It didn’t change that it bothered a deep set part of Sam every time it happened but that kind of stuff was to be expected in this line of work.

“Are they poppers? Fireworks?”

“Yes! I got color bombd, poppers, sparklers, different kinds of fireworks, bottle rockets, vodka gummy bears….”

“I’m not familiar with half of those. Vodka gummy bears?”

“Oh those are not fireworks. You take gummy bears and soak them overnight in vodka then drain them and you get boozy gummy bears.”

“I didn’t think they were fireworks.” He said, looking at all the stuff she was carrying in. “Wouldn’t the vodka ruin the taste of the gummy bears? Wouldn’t they get soggy and slimy?”

“Hey fireworks have weird names. And not really. It is like a gummy jello shot. And nope the gummy sucks up all the vodka like a little gummy sponge.”

“I see that.” He commented, eyeing the ‘Vengeful Texan’ firework that peeked through the bag. He didn’t understand why fireworks couldn’t just be named after the colors they made, they basically all ended up looking like flowers anyway. “Spongey gummies...”  He muttered, unsure of how appetizing they sounded. “I’ll try one if you eat one first.”
