It had been years since her family from Rohan had come to visit. In the grand scheme of things, that wasnāt very long, but to Finduiwyn it felt like an eternity. The times she spent with her cousin and aunt and uncle were filled with laughter and happiness and she was sure this visit would be the same.
Not to mention, this was one of the first times she was being allowed to greet their guests. Normally her mother was the cupbearer, greeting people and welcoming them with a cup of sweet wine. But this time, she had deigned to let Finduiwyn greet her family. Wiggling with excitement, she kept an eye out for the arrival of horses, the goblet in her hands cold and fragrant. Her mother was the picture of calm and pleasantry. She hoped she could emulate that someday.
Finally she spotted the small retinue that marked the arrival of her aunt and cousin. Elfwine looked like he had gotten taller, a fact which didnāt surprise her in the least. Her aunt looked resplendent and Finduiwyn bit back the sudden surge of jealousy at her beauty. That was an unnecessary emotion and now was not the time.Ā āWelcome to Emyn Arnen. we have prepared rooms for you to refresh yourselves after your long journey.ā She said, handing her aunt the cup of wine with an air of extreme dignity. Her mother held back a laugh at her proper delivery.
āOh I am so glad to see you, dear cousin and Aunt Lothriel! I canāt wait to show you everything and hear about Rohan!ā
As she dismounted, her son came to stand beside her and she couldnāt help but smile. He was getting so tall, and no doubt would rival his father for height some day, hair like a mane around his head despite her neatly braiding it back for him that very morning in an attempt to keep it tidy for their arrival. Despite his blonde hair however, his face was much alike to her fatherās, the union of their houses all too clear in young Elfwine.
Now however she could see her sister-in-law, and there was her niece with her. My she had grown, and it only made Lothiriel wish more and more that they could make their visits more frequent. She did hate missing out on things in their family, and as she approached, she had to bite back a chuckle at the very official delivery, taking the cup and sipping it.
āGreetings, my dear. Look how youāve grown, why youāre positively radiant!ā Lothiriel beamed at her niece, eyes shining with delight,Ā āMy dear husband sends his apologies, but he will be a little late. He had to remain in Edoras to settle some trading business before he could travel.ā
