The Prince of Wales attended the Earthshot Prize Awards 2024 at the Green Point Shared Fields on his third day in Cape Town.

He was joined innovators, policy makers and internationally renowned talent to celebrate the 2024 cohort of fifteen global Finalists before the five Winners were announced.

William gave a speech at the event, greeting the audiences by using phrases from nine African languages.

Following the ceremony he met and congratulated the winners during the Earthshot Prize Thank You Reception at the Earthshot Prize Dome.

Ahead of the Award ceremony, The Prince of Wales met the 2024 Finalists at the foot of Table Mountain at the world-famous Kirstenbosch Gardens.

He met and spent time with all fifteen Finalists and heard about their experience of the Earthshot Prize Fellowship Programme, and their outlook ahead of Ceremony.

In the article Rosa Monckton: My extraordinary friend, Diana by Valentine Low, published in The Times in 2017, Rosa recounts how Princess Diana, Rosa, and Lucia Flecha de Lima formed a close friendship.

They had a gold brooch in the form of a cloak and dagger made to symbolize their friendship. According to the article the design was to “represent the fun they had escaping the attentions of the photographers who dogged Diana’s every step.

It had been commissioned by Monckton, who brought the New York jewellers Tiffany’s to London.

The brooch that is coming up for auction has hallmarks for London 1993, which fits in the timeline of the ladies’ relationship.

The brooch is being auctioned by Elmwoods on August 21st and is lot 20. It has an estimate of £1,200-£1,600.
