THE FRENCH WANT TO KNOW...
Your most “Frenchy” concert memory?
X: A recent best memory was Rock en Seine in Paris, two or three weeks ago. We don’t play a lot in Paris; it’s always stressful for us because our friends and families are there. Every time we do, there’s always a technical issue, something that prevents us from doing well until the very end. And this time, everything went well. The audience was great; the venue was great, too. It had been 10 years since we last played at Rock en Seine. So there, it was a flawless performance.
How much do you charge to play at my birthday?
X: You’ll have to reach out to our agent. You don’t want to know.
And the most uncomfortable moment during a concert?
X: The most physically uncomfortable was in Bordeaux in 2008, since we both had gastroenteritis. All of the tracks were super fast, all of the tracks were two and a half minutes long. We couldn’t take it anymore, it was really hard.
The “heaviest” number in your phone?*
X: For me, Gaspard’s is the heaviest in my phone.
G: Now, it’s complicated to respond to anyone else but Xavier.
X (smiling): Nooo, you’re allowed to.
G: Who? Well, Philippe Katerine. Yeah, I’m pretty happy to have his number. Phillippe—hello!
Your favorite political figure?
X: Personally, I like Chirac’s flamboyance. But just his flamboyance, you know? When he was younger, when he used to hop over the turnstiles at the metro. And when he ate frog legs and ortolans [a type of songbird eaten as a delicacy] in Parisian restaurants.
G: Not for me, that’s not one of my favorite figures.
What do you wear to sleep?
X: Briefs.
G: Nothing.
X: Boxers are useless because they don’t hold you, which I prefer. It’s like when you swaddle babies, you know? They sleep well because they feel held all over. And isn’t that what briefs do?
Have you lied in this interview?
X (looking at G): He lied, he doesn’t know Philippe Katerine. The number that’s really the heaviest in his phone isn’t Philippe Katerine, it’s Nicolas Canteloup.

Generator - Anonymous
The current most recent fic on the tag, and one that managed to push the corners of my mouth into a smile ! It reminds me of an era long past in the tag, touches on subjects close to me and is smartly written, answering most of my greedy questions through a thorough re-read or two. Gaspard's selfishness is a subject not often tackled in a tasteful way in the tag in my opinion, which is a shame. But this one does it beautifully !
Grimaldi - Anonymous
"Finally a kinky fic that aligns with my headcanons !" Is what I thought reading Grimaldi for the first time. It's lush, sexy, well written, and features my favorite flavor of GasXav : Xavier dominating. There is much needed subtleness in this fic too, for example Xavier's nervousness or the way their deep connection is depicted. Royal !
Warm in Winter - Daftinthehead
Soft, loving, in one of the less-written-about eras, Xavier's Londonscapade of 2009-2011. And of course features the best boy, Chuck the dog. This fic still tugs on my heart strings even all those years later, I find it close to the idea I've always had of them in my mind. And I'm a sucker for flashbacks, so what else is there to say !
This Could Be Beautiful / You Could Easily Have Me - VTN
Two fics for the price of one ! Any GasXav aficionado worth their salt will tell you the same. VTN's fics are the founding texts of Justice fanfiction, as even decades later they hold true to them. But those two pieces in particular mean a lot to me. They're packed with Justice lore you wouldn't even expect isn't made up at first glace, and for years and years they've accompanied my own journey, coming back to them now and then to discover that this one detail was, in fact, Justice lore. It was and is fascinating for people like me, and I still wonder, sometimes, if Xavier in leather pants might be real information...
Untitled - Anonymous
A tiny bit angstier than what I usually enjoy (though looking at my own fics, it might be a lack of self awareness on my part, LOL) but the timidity with which everything is delivered, spilling from Xavier's mind into the words, is beautiful. It tries to be tough, yet only comes off as extremely vulnerable and disorganized, like the love of two authetically french men who estimate the other to be their everything, yet do practically nothing about it. It is almost pining even though they're in a relationship, and god knows pining is and will always remain my favorite trope.
