I feel like hiring James Wilson must have been such a conflicting experience for Cuddy. One the one hand, he presumably came with good references and perhaps a strong reputation. On the other hand, he was friends with Gregory House.

She's sat there interviewing this polite, diligent man who's very good at his job, and in the back of her head she's just thinking "friends with House???"

Either that or she hired a good doctor and only found out afterwards about the House friendship, which might have been even more confusing.
