Just… the juxtaposition of two completely different relationships with sibs…
ANYWAY MORE LORE!!!
Shayla (orange and greenish hair) belongs to a loving family, that is also poor, because they’ve been pushed out from their home and their land by another nation. They try to make do, but they suffer attacks from other people and creatures alike. Shayla is very close with their younger sister, Shayla is the best older sib ever, teaching her all the best tricks and making sure she stays out of trouble and eats her veggies. When she gets hurt, Shayla approaches the soldiers by the border, wanting to be trained in order to protect eir family. And ey is accepted, much to the dismay of everyone else. But the Lord’s soldiers promise to help, and ey’ll return soon! … only Shayla is still here, and ey doesn’t really know where home is anymore. Or how to escape.
Jaylin (one long elf ear) was born to a lovely human woman, Maya, who had an amazing few years with a pretty elf man, Daz, who had come to explore her town, but what to her was months of falling in love, was a simple exciting fling to a long lived Elf. Daz didn’t mean to break her heart, and when time came for him to move on, and news of her pregnancy came to light, he figured it would be in everyone’s best interest for him to leave the baby in Maya’s care. Daz really believes this, as every single other half elf he has met or heard of has been as slow growing as any other elf. (There’s no internet for him in this world to find out that not all half elves grow at the same rate.) And really Maya will Never have as much time as he will with their child, better to give as many moments as he could to her before her time ends. It’s expensive to send a letter to an elven city, and he gets busy, so letters don’t pass between them. But they’ve set it up for one express letter to alert him of her passing. When he returns, he expects to find a young half elf child of about 5 or 10 (half elves vary a little he knows this) that is sick of having their play mates keep moving on, and missing their mother, ready to leave the human town and come back to an elven city where they’ll fit in. It’d be good, he thinks, to give the kid a fresh start after the passing of Maya.
If he is right or not doesn’t matter because instead when he comes back looking for his child, the towns people tell him that, actually, the half elf child of the departed Maya is fully grown. And currently… away? Daz feels guilty about never visiting now.
Jaylin is longer lived then the humans around him, but not as long lived as Daz assumed. Which makes making friends and school harder for Jaylin, who’s now about 20 but really is much older technically. Somehow, Jaylin remained unjaded, or at least, once outside of being a teen, he found it much easier to keep friends once he left school and could make friends with adults of whatever age. Maya has told him that his father will come looking for him eventually, he doesn’t quite know what to make of this, but he knows he doesn’t want to leave his home town. Leave where he grew up and all the people he knows and the land his mother and him have walked over together for years? No thanks, rando stranger!
As Jaylin is taking supplies between stores, just doing his job, he is accosted by the Lord’s soldiers! Pestering him about every little thing, sending him into a nervous wreck. Later that week, he receives word that the Lord has… promoted him. And he is to pack up and leave almost immediately. He figures this is a grave misunderstanding and will be returned home once it is decided he is no fit for castle life. Unfortunately for him, the Lord, for some unfathomable reason, has decided that Jaylin shall be a soldier. Jaylin is terrible at his new job. With no idea his absent father is now on the search for him.
Ray was born into the role of castle housemaid like her parents, she has only ever known this life serving under Lord Evilface 2 ( I still need names for them lol) but she has read books, she knows there’s a different way of living. And that her way rn sucks shit! And she hates the vampire Lords. There’s talk around here of a coop… or is that a trap to catch a rebellion in its infancy? She has to be careful
Jill and Jack were… rescued. Parents… didn’t make it. But at least they’re got a new home under the vampire Lord Evilface 1!
Had these guys in my back pocket for. A while. So took em out for a moment! (Lore ⬇️)
Basically, they’re on a space ship, humans are traveling to another planet, on the way some aliens have hitched a ride and the officials no like that. People fear the aliens. Ezra finds a kid alien, instead of turning her in, ey helps her to hide and they slowly gain a bond. Brook gets sus of Ezra for acting weirder then usual and has been kinda a bully this whole time. Until she finds Aspen, then after some panic it is realised that Brook has been mean to Ezra because she thought Ezra was being rude back but really Ezra is just awkward/anxiety disorder. So with this settled they awkwardly team up to keep the lil guy safe. Brook is still prickly and blunt but she’s on Ezra’s side now, and honestly has some good advice and things are much easier now. Eventually PLOT happens and Ezra has to stop being a doormat and stand up for not only emself but for Brook and Aspen too, character ark things.
Anyways I love these guys a lot <3 ah shit I forgot to write the actual name for his eye condition: Nystagmus! As is common for people with albinism. The glasses help with his depth perception.
