So recently @how-perfectly-peculiar reblogged this post of mine and made some points in the tags that I wanted to clarify my perspective on. (I would've reblogged the post but you can't reblog the tags lol)
When it comes to Ricky and Lilly, all I meant was that I wish they had proper closure as characters. They had such an important role in the protagonists life and were then entirely disregarded, and it feels kinda unrealistic for them to just be forgotten about. (e.g. I wish Noor had made a statement after the events of book 6 about wanting to find Lilly and make sure she's alright. Even something as small as that)
Yeah, he didn't know Fiona very well. But all the other children did. And it's odd to me how none of them seem to miss her at all. I can see Miss P suppressing any and all emotions regarding Fiona and the other children she's lost, but I don't see all the kids being able to or even wanting to do this. Also, Jacob could very easily narrate how the other kids seem to be more quiet and mournful than usual, and made a comment on how much they must be missing Fiona and trying to hide it. (Once again, even smth small is better than what we got). But he didn't. It just feels like Riggs didn't know what to do with her until she had a narrative purpose again. Fiona just deserved more recognition imo.Ā
What I meant here didn't really have anything to do with the fate/Greek mythology references. (Although, I must add that I'm quite sure Riggs intended to end the story at LoS meaning Jemma was going to be canon). And I'm glad they broke up, I'm not a Jemma fan. What I meant was that I was annoyed how Emma went from being one of the most important characters to being almost never heard from. And yes, realistically, Jacob may not want to do much with her after their breakup. But I don't think that was the sole reason. Because they're in the middle of a war right now. Realistically, you may have to work with some people you don't want to.
IĀ hated their relationship and I'm glad it's over, but I've always loved Emma as a character so seeing her get immediately sidelined after having such a major role was jarring and disappointing,Ā it just felt like Riggs didn't know how to include her now that she was no longer a love interest.
I never actually thought too deeply about her photography tho, this is so poetic! Fits her character really well and now I'm crying too lol
Yeah, ik he'd never open up to Jacob about his past or anything. This is just a personal thing, I just wanna know more about him. Although, I reckon if he had a pov, we might have gotten to see something in a flashback maybe.
I'm glad you agree with my point about Miss P, but I must admit I don't agree with your point that it's narrated by a teen and that they're being proper teens for the first time in decades.
Firstly, Jacob is a teen who sees Miss P the way many teens see parental figures, but that doesn't mean he should always see her like that (controlling, etc). He never stopped to learn or consider what happened to her to make her the way she is. She was the one expected to change and allow the kids to throw themselves into danger and that was what annoyed me. There was no growth on Jacobs part and no acknowledgment of what she went through. And as a result, she didn't have much growth either.Ā
And their teenage rebellion was downright criminal! Miss P was drugged by Millard and then lied to/manipulated by the remaining children regarding the others whereabouts. It's even worse that she had considered them as some of the few people she could actually rely on.Ā And then this was all just ok. She was mad for a few pages when they got back, but then all of a sudden it's all fine and the council now wants them to do even more dangerous stuff.
All I wanted was Jacob to realise "Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have jumped in the water after she just confessed that her parents drowned themselves, maybe I shouldn't have been ok with her getting drugged, maybe I should apologise, or at the very least, maybe I should narrate this to the audience so that they know I realise I've done wrong."
Dw about shitting on my post, I like to yap about this stuff when given the chance anyway! Sorry for nitpicking all of your points tho lol, I got a little carried away lol.
