2017′s Theme Word: PRIORITIZE
In 2016 I finished up my Southeast Asia trip, came back home to Beaverton, moved to a new city, started a new job, and began establishing a community in Seattle. The best part though? Being able to see my family a minimum of once a month. One of our cars broke down on a trip home and my parents picked me up in the middle of the night. Teagan and I still haven’t purchased a single roll of toilet paper in 6+ months of living in Seattle because my mom hooks it up. This year will be the first year in 3 years that I’ve been home for my mom’s birthday. I moved to Seattle to prioritize my family and it has meant the world to me.
So why choose to prioritize in 2017? Age has gotten to me. Pragmatism too. The stores of time, attention, energy, words, and money finally appear finite. The syncopated clacks of the clock behind me serve as a reminder that each second matters. If I can only do one thing in each hour, day, month, or a year - what’s it going to be? My challenge this year will be to truly think through what matters to me and tackle those first.
