Thomas has never seen Talon up close before, and even as he is hidden behind the simple mask, it cuts an intimidating figure. Thatâs the intention, of course, along with basic utility - his eyes scrape over the knives that hang on its chest critically. Theyâre top of the line; the Court knows nothing else.
In the pocket of his perfectly tailored suit pants, a small slip of paper sits, a name written perfectly in black ink: the Talonâs target. Thomas doesnât bother to pull at it; he memorized the name the first time he looked at it.
This man is not a normal man. That much is clear immediately; no normal man moves like that. He probably thought he was hiding it well, but there is an unnaturalness to it that marks him apart. The mark of someone who knew how to kill and was trying to hide it. Someone who was trying to appear normal rather than just being normal. Curious.Â
But now they are at a standoff. Was this the man who was responsible for the other Talon? Since the court was destroyed, or at least, mostly destroyed, their Talons were... inferior to the older models. Sure, there were less of them, and they were less sophisticated, but all of the older Talons had a lifetime of training, whereas the new talons were more mass produced.Â
âThat Talon was meant to guard you. Why? You are not of the court.â Every Talon knew the court members. They had to, now that they were discarded, and were hunting them down. This man was not a court member. And yet, there had been a talon nearby. Curious.Â
Too curious for him to pass up.Â
