A couple weeks ago I went to a Morrissey’s Birthday Night at a bar (really funny event theme btw) and experienced that tweet in real time for hours. You know the one. Anyway isn’t this, as they say, an all time classic

Wow two caffeinated drink posts in a row on my blog. Have been trying to see if I’ve got a third in me. I think I genuinely don’t. Shame
Lately I’ve been enjoying: 1. Spoonful(s? Whatever) of instant coffee 2. Some ice 3. A tiny bit of salt 4. A little cold tap water just enough to dissolve the coffee, swish it around a bit 5. Maple syrup if you want it sweet 6. Some oat milk, be generous with this 7. Rest of the glass is sparkling water. Perhaps step 7 sounds nuts. It’s really awesome though. Delightful Italian soda coffee beverage
Basically every time I see this energy drink ad at the grocery store it makes me laugh out loud

Something analytic philosophers love to do is take shots at the people in sociology or whatever who think that knowledge is, you know, just like, your opinion, man. And don't get me wrong I think they're basically right on the substance every single time. You might say: of course I would think that, the way my life has gone means that that's just like, my opinion, man. And that's fair. But they do also happen to be right. Nevertheless! It is seriously such an embarrassing practice to be engaging in this at this particular point in time. I don't know, maybe if we had gotten in there in the 80s or something then people would have confidence in the humanities in the 2020s. I don't know. But we didn't and they're cutting our funding now. Martha nussbaum couldn't finish the job on judith butler in the 90s but you think you can now? You can't! And even if you could it wouldn't stop them from cutting our funding now

It’s so fucking annoying to wake up some fine morning and think “today I shall go to the grocery store” and then you get there and it’s closed because of the public holiday of “Corpus Christi,” or the public holiday of “the immaculate conception of Mary.” Sorry but everybody growwwww upppppp
Ok this is a crazy post but have any of you guys ever read puddnhead wilson by mark twain. It is maybe the worst book I've ever read that is insanely good. Like 80% of the reading experience kind of blew but I wouldn't change a word of it. It's also the meanest book I've ever read. And it has what I always talk about as the only permissible structure for a short story which is just: setup, punchline. But the world's most evil setup and punchline. And a bunch of evil sub-setups and sub-punchlines. Awesomeeeeeeeee so awesome I cannot believe it

On one hand people in the tags of my post about George tiller from back in the day are so stupid they’re like but wait kennedys bad kennedys in same sentence as mlk is ridiculous. Sending everybody to some reading comprehension crash course where they teach you how to distinguish between descriptive claims (e.g., “in the American cultural imagination, jfk is a martyr”) and normative claims (e.g., “george tiller should be taken to be a martyr”) and what to do when there are descriptive and normative claims in the same sentence (the previous two claims do not entail the normative claim “it is good that people take jfk to be a martyr”). On the other hand it’s neat to no longer see “cw abortion” tags and it’s good I suppose that people in the tags are like wow I’d never heard of him before I am reading about this now.
George Tiller was murdered 13 years ago today (May 31 2022)
People noting this anniversary reminding me again that it is such an insane failure of the pro-choice movement that we do not as a nation think of George Tiller as a civil rights hero and additionally a martyr at the level of MLK Jr. or a Kennedy. So, you know, do your part, etc.
