Tonight on My Husband Doesnāt Know How to Baby Talk
āMaāam, are you aware that these, right here are your hands? They belong to you. And you get to decide what happens with them. So when you use these hands to pull your binky out of your mouth that is not necessarily a dad problem. Iāll fix it obviously i just want you to acknowledge itās not my faultā
Husband: maāam it has been reported lately that you do in fact have tiny little toes and a little button nose, do you care to comment?
Penny Rose: Babbles in Baby
Husband: RIVETING!
Penny Rose: Does that High Pitched Baby Yell ā¢ļø
Husband: Let it out friend! Feel your feelings!
Me: Hehehe silly husband doesnāt know how to do baby talk
All of tumblr collectively at my husband:
Penny Rose: does a sad baby scream
Husband: you donāt even have to understand taxes yet! I can explain them but youāve got several years before thatās relevant!
Penny Rose: wide eyes, staring at her father, almost intrigued
Husband: I lied to you Penny your mother does our taxes. Do you want to know about arbitration? I know all about arbitration.
THE MAN THE MYTH THE LEGEND
yes he just walks around the house and talks to her like this
Penny Rose: Cooing as twinkle twinkle little star plays
Husband: Now Penny there is a lot of misinformation out there in the world and I hate to tell you this but the moon is in fact not made of cheese. That is a conspiracy theory pushed by Big Dairy.
????
Husband: Holds Penny Rose up to her reflection in the microwave
Husband: you see Penny Rose! This was the M. Night Shyamalan twist! You were mirror baby all along!
Ted Lasso: The Opposite of Subverting Expectations
This is gonna have spoilers for the end of Ted Lasso Season 2
There is one phrase in media that has become prominent as of late. Itās when creators go on about how they wanted to āsubvert expectationsā and it is 100% a bullshit line.
Itās writers who donāt like it when you figure out whatās coming so they do a bait and switch in the last minute. Itās frankly an offensive thing because donāt you want your fans to pay attention to your show? Donāt you want them to think about it? You should respect your audience.
George RR Martin once said that he knows thereās people on the internet that have guessed where his books are going or have guessed major plot points. That heās not going to change the ending because of that because it means all the hints he put along the way are for naught. I donāt agree with all of his choices as a writer but I think that line of thinking is actually really wise.
If you change your ending then the hints from before are meaningless. Having people guess what is going to happen doesnāt make it less impactful. If youāve got a good creative team and good actors anything is possible.
Ted Lasso as a show proves this to be true.
Raise your hand if you knew that Nate was going to go Dark Side? Keep it raised if you knew he was gonna spill the beans and then join Rupert.Ā
We knew Richmond was going to get promoted. That Sam was probably going to stay with the team.
But knowing that doesnāt make the journey any less impactful. I knew Nate was gonna spill but that didnāt make it hurt any less when we saw the text message. My heart still broke during the confrontation between Ted and Nate. Seeing Sam chose himself and his future was beautiful.
Seeing Jamie give the ball to Dani and seeing Dani score the penalty was a perfect moment.
The Celebration was incredible and heartwarming. The joy wasnāt taken away by the fact that we knew it was gonna happen.
Thatās just good storytelling. Itās meaningful, itās impactful, itās joyous.
Thereās no meaningless twists or last second gotchas! And I truly hope writers rooms are paying attention. Because is what makes a show wonderful. Itās characters you can root for, incredible actors and good storytelling.
Because storytelling still matters

āHow is it possible in a country as rich as Canada with the greatest water resources in the world that First Nation communities can be left without access to clean drinking water?ā asked Singh.
NESKANTAGA ā On Monday, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and NDP MP Charlie Angus (TimminsāJames Bay) visited Neskantaga First Nation to talk with the community about their longstanding water crisis. In 2015, Justin Trudeau promised an end to boiled water advisories on reserve and made Neskantaga the symbol of the Liberal promise to deliver on clean water. And yet the community is now 26 years without safe water with no end in sight. Singh was in the community to hear first hand what solutions are needed.
āHow is it possible in a country as rich as Canada with the greatest water resources in the world that First Nation communities can be left without access to clean drinking water?ā asked Singh. āFor six years, Justin Trudeau has said a lot of nice things about working towards reconciliation, but those words donāt mean anything when he continues to do nothing to fix the water crisis in Neskantaga and in other communities across the country. People have been living without clean drinking water for decades. Some residents have lived their whole lives without it. How can Justin Trudeau speak about reconciliation while continuing to deny Indigenous people this basic human right?ā
There are currently 51 long term boil water advisories in place in Indigenous communities across the country, including in Neskantaga First Nation.
āWhat I saw in Neskantaga is the brutal indifference of the federal government to basic rights of families to live with safe water. The solution to the water crisis requires more than Liberal talk,ā said Angus. āI challenge Justin Trudeau to come here and see the injustice he is upholding first-hand and speak with community members. The answer to the water crisis is not rocket science. It just takes political will.ā
The NDP is committed to a clean water strategy that addresses the real issues at the ground level and works with the communities to put in long-term solutions that ensure that people in every part of Canada can live in safety and dignity.

the meaning of life is summed up in the story elmer bendiner tells about how when he was a pilot the second world war, his plane was hit with a barrage of anti-aircraft fire from the nazi forces but the crew survived. and how everyone was saying it was a miracle until they investigated the shells that got in the fuselage and found there was no explosive charges in any of them. in one they found a note scribbled in czech, written by the person who had been forced to manufacture the shells, and it just said āthis is all we can do for you nowā.
every time i see someone acting tough online about how harm reduction is pointless and in some convoluted way worse than doing nothing i think about that person in some soul-destroying nazi factory in occupied czechoslovakia removing all of the explosive charges from their anti-aircraft shells and writing a note that they must have known would probably never be read, just to say āthis is all we can do for you, and weāre going to do itā. they are trying to make us kill you and we refuse. i do think that maybe itās all going to be okay.
āI think heās a really good match. I mean, heās age appropriate, financially appropriate. Heās not shy.ā āI love that about him.ā Ted Lasso Season 2 Sneak Peek via BlackTree TV on YouTube

on another note, watched The Mummy (1999) the other day and I couldnāt helpĀ feel like the OāConnells and the Addams (Addams Family Values (1993) would get on really well ya know? The OāConnells are basically the pastel adventure version of the Addams, surely they would just be vibinā over tea and crumpets in an extremely haunted mansion having a ball of a time
Morticia: āSo what is it you do for a living my dear?ā
Evelyn: āWe dig up dead people who often have monstrous curses placed on them!ā
Morticia: āfascinatingā
Gomez: *leaping out from behind a pillar which is encrusted with ominous looking runes* en garde!
Rick: *grabs sword from equally ominous looking wall full of weapons one of which seems to be glowing* fantastic I was getting a bit rusty
Gomez: *nearly in tears* oh heās screaming nonsensically, what spirit! what reslove!
*Rick and Gomez, still frantically sword fighting*
Rick: Have I mentioned how wonderful my wife is yet, I really feel like I havenāt really expanded enough on how wonderful she is
Gomez: do go on, I would be delighted to hear about how wonderful your wife is, I strongly encourge all men to extoll the virtues of their wives with rapturous praise, however I should perhaps mention my wife is in fact better
*sword fighting intensifies as both men rapturously extoll the virtues of their wives*
Jonathan and Fester and Cousin Itt watch from the bar, where Lurch and Thing are making the drinks.
Jonathan and Thing knew one another from The War; each thought the other to be dead
Their reunion is highly emotional
I forgot Iām left handed.
Dear Neil, I am a horrible person. How to be kinder, please?
Sometimes I suspect we are all horrible people. Or at least, we are human people. Same thing. We are impatient, judgmental, irritating and irritated, grumpy, easily offended and the rest of it.
So how to be kinder if it doesnāt come naturally?Ā
Fake it.Ā
Fake it a little bit at a time.Ā
Because there isnāt actually any difference between doing something nice for someone because you are naturally saintly and perfect, and doing something nice for someone because you are secretly demonic and trying to cover it up. Itās still an act of kindness either way, and you still made their lives better.
Smile at people. Say hullo. Ask about their lives. Remember what theyāve told you about their lives. Do small things to try and help them. (They will not know you are horrible, do not worry. They will just perceive that you are helping.)
Give people the benefit of the doubt. Remember that itās more often stupidity to blame than evil, that everyone can screw up (including you) and whatās important is learning from that.
ThinkĀ āWhat would an actually kind person do now?ā ā and do that. Donāt beat yourself up when you fail. Just be as kind to yourself as you will be to others ā even if you have to fake that.
And good luck.
Reblogging because people have begun sharing it again.
