Hubrisbent Announcements 2.0

We've made some important changes to our timeline this past week, and we have a few more planned that we want ALL our members to be aware of. Thank you all so much for being a part of this timeline - we hope that you continue to do so. 

First off, the entire Hubrisbent blog has been redone. We've updated the members page, complete with detailed descriptions for all active members, redone most of our pages, and cleaned things up in general. We've got a page for art sources in the works, but the blog's facelift is essentially complete.

Our Dave and Dirk roleplayer has decided to cease activity on all their roleplay blogs for personal reasons, so these spots are now open again. Please keep in mind that if you want to apply for Dirk's spot, the application process will likely be much more through than it would be for another character, given the extensive history many characters have with him. We wish Fern luck in whatever they choose to do from here on out, and we thank them for the good times they gave us. 

We would appreciate all active roleplayers in this timeline to shoot us a message within the next week or so with their IC and OOC contact details, as some people have changed Skypes, chumhandles or personal blog URLS, and we want to have a sort of directory for timeline members to be able to contact each other OOC. 

Lastly, we would like to welcome epineuxx as our third admin! They can be contacted with questions about the timeline or rules if gregariousgunsmith or foxhardt are unavailable.

Important Changes

Hello! This is Jakemun speaking - I've been putting off making this post for a while, but recently, we've had some large changes happen within this timeline that all members should be aware of.

Fern, the original founder of the timeline and the mun for our Dave and Dirk, will no longer be an admin for Hubrisbent. Due to personal reasons, they are giving up their status as admin, and making their Dirk account inactive. They have left the timeline in my hands for the foreseeable future, and to account for their absence, I am bringing Roxymun in as a second admin to help me run the timeline.

After some discussion, we've decided that there are some changes that will need to be made within the timeline to keep it operating. In the past, this timeline has been very loosely organized on an OOC level, and as a result, not very much has happened. We also have the issue of a disjointed history for our timeline, owing to the fact that there has been little discussion on that point. 

We are attempting to organize a forum for members to talk OOC in a way that will hopefully be less stressful for some that one-on-one conversations over Skype, and allow for multiple members to weigh in on plots and ideas. In addition, we will be changing the timeline rules up a bit, and it's likely that rules regarding activity will grow less relaxed than they have been previously. 

Questions regarding anything mentioned in this post should be directed to myself, gregariousgunsmith; or foxhardt.

What was their role in SBURB, if applicable? Slyph of Space

What is their punishment? 

- Her hailing sin, failure to create the final universe frog, leaves her with a crippling need for "completion". Some would call it OCD, though she refuses to even acknowledge it. Though she no longer takes pleasure in crafting and sewing, she does it out of seeming obligation to make something that's not inherently fucked up.

- As self-proclaimed auspitice of most everything, and her seeming "failure" to keep everyone on good terms with each other, she now has an overwhelming desire to make sure that friendships don't fail in this life. Though touch is now painful and seeming everyone is always glaring at and plotting against her, she still strives for at least one long lasting and truthful relationship. 

- Her first death, and subsequent awakening, still carries with her, outwardly a large and disfiguring scar over much of her abdomen. It is painful to eat or drink, save for a certain forbidden aqua vitae, which leaves her with a constant burning thirst she refuses to sate. 

What is their current situation? Sequestering herself away from temptation, Kanaya lives in a small closet-like room in the basement of a fabric shop, wherein she constantly attempts to make and eventually always tears apart garments for the shopkeep. The shopkeeper sometimes breaks her out of her cycle of "creation" and encourages her to get out, much to her chagrin, but she is loathe to go against their good will and can sometimes be found in parks and busy streets.

A sharp knocking on her door rouses her out of her fixation, seam ripper pausing just long enough for her to quip out a small, "Yes?" 

Stomach knotting at the impending request, Kanaya sits down her current (and current, and current, and current, three days and she still can't get the neck right, three days and the stitching still isn't even, three days and why can't anything just work out just once?)- "Kanaya, I think you've almost been in here the whole weekend. You wanna go out? Get a coffee?"

She bites her lip, fangs gripping and puncturing through a thin layer of black lipstick and pale skin. No, please, thank you. "Um, that would be lovely, yes. Allow me to freshen up first. Excuse me." Another day out of holding her breath, ignoring the glares and whispers, and calmly sipping tasteless scalding liquid for the sake of appearances. She has to. She can't let this person, her one lifeline now, see her fail. Not yet, she silently prays, not if she can help it.

Maid of Time

What is their punishment?

Deafened: Aradia can't hear anything spoken by the living. The voices of the dead are so loud and persistent and constant that it's all she hears, awake or asleep (when she manages to sleep). For this reason she's become extremely depressed, losing control of her emotions to the point where she can snap between cheerful and morose in the blink of an eye.

Lost Sense of Reality: Dysphoric. No longer able to tell when she's dreaming or in the real world. Will often do spontaneous and crazy stunts because she believes she's asleep and this will wake her up. She's in denial that the game is over, as this isn't the reward she was promised, and will not "listen" if told otherwise.

Blackouts: Tied to being the Maid of Time, where she could stop and start time as she pleased, Aradia will sometimes black out for undetermined lengths of time. Has no idea what triggers them.

What is their current situation?

Lives wherever she can, sometimes with others if they allow her to spend the night. Doesn't particularly care where she rests as it isn't real to her.

Who are you, as the mun?

My name is Mouse. I'm 19, Canadian, and female. I love body horror, gore, and psychological stuff so this timeline is right up my alley. I also have extreme arachnophobia and trypophobia, so I politely request that anything related to spiders or small clusters of holes be tagged as I will be triggered by these things. I'd like to think I get along with people pretty easily and I dunno. This seems fun. :)

You wake up and once again you are stifled. The constant screaming and chattering of those who have long since passed follow you as you force yourself to action. Your body is weary (a false weariness) and your limbs feel heavy and sluggish (it's not real). This doesn't deter you. You write a note to the owner of the house you stayed at the night previous, thanking them for being "a m0st graci0us h0st", before setting off once more into the strange alien world you've been inhabiting. You've asked around the humans (funny, there are only singular copies this time) and none of them can tell you who's dream bubble this is. That's fine. Some bubbles are just larger and occupy more time than others. You know you'll get to the bottom of this eventually.

She's missing her left eye and left arm, and no longer has her mind-gripping powers and suffers from very painful chronic migraines. Due to her aspect having been light (fortune) perhaps she has not bad luck but.. paranoia?? She's paranoid that bad things are going to happen to her all the time?

What is their current situation?

Living in her hive back on Alternia. She very rarely leaves it.

I' m Spook, I'm 19, and I live in Canada. I go by neutral (they/them/their) pronouns.The only things I need tagged are self harm and I'm emetophobic so having vomit-related posts tagged too would be swell!

Your head aches, it always aches these days. Gone are the days where you could manipulate others to do whatever you willed. Your left eye socket is nothing but a gaping hole in your face, a big ugly scar the only remainder of your left arm. In the past everything always seemed to go your way, you always got what you wanted. These days that certainly wasn't the case, it seemed like everything you touched went to shit, that everything was out to get. But at least you're alive, so you're going to keep on surviving because giving up is for quitters and you sure as hell aren't a quitter.

What was their role in SBURB, if applicable?

None in SBURB, but stood up to Her Imperious Condescension/The Batterwitch before the game began. Her way of taunting was through her written work Complacency of the Learned.

What is their punishment?

Resistance is futile.

In order to wipe out the last shred of opposition in Rose, she has been afflicted with rapidly aging internal organs and structure, with the exception of her mind, which is cursed to watch herself degrade. As a result, she has severe arthritis and can no longer write or type, and also has decreasing ability of sight. She still has her voice, but that is fading as well, and she may soon be left without the power to communicate.

What is their current situation?

Rose lives in a rather elegant, spacious house in Rainbow Falls, New York. She uses a cane for walking around in her home and installed a chair lift in her home to get from floor to floor. She also has hired an aide, Nina, who cleans for her and helps her with daily tasks that her degeneration has made impossible. While her life is still fairly public and she writes for freelance jobs, she won’t let herself be caught with Nina or her cane when in the public eye. Her pride, to her, is all that she has left. In order to maintain her blog, she uses a trackball mouse and a speech-to-text program.

Hello!! My name is Lilith, and I am an 18 year old pansexual cisgender female. I tend to get along easily with everyone, and I’m not quick to anger! I handle the types of triggers presented in this timeline just fine. I have depression, so my activity will definitely be in flux, but I still love to roleplay! I like big words, so I thought Rose would be perfect. uwu

You wake to the whistling of a tea kettle in the kitchen downstairs, the faint high-pitched squealing just loud enough to be irritating to your ears. Nina has her ways of waking you up without personal interaction. And you cannot blame her, for you were the one that told her you wished to be left alone as much as possible. You sit up with a heavy sigh and shift your legs so that they hang off the bed. It takes what seems to be a herculean effort just to grasp your cane, and one larger than that to force yourself to your feet. Mornings have become daily trials for you, ever since your arthritis got worse. With a walk that is the bastard child of a waddle and a hobble, you meander to the stairwell and sit on the chair lift, taking your daily ride of shame to the floor below. Nina awaits you in the kitchen, and has just set down your cup of tea beside your breakfast. She is about to escape when you catch her eye and speak to her for what is probably the first time in a long, harrowing, and pain-filled week.

Then she’s off, scurrying away to do some chore or another. You’ve tried not to think about it. It’s far too depressing to dwell on what you can no longer perform yourself.
