Well- thatās different. Normally they walk, or run, away from him instead of actually approaching him instead. Of course, Levi doesnāt even have to hear the voice, because he can already tell who it is by the form. His eyes narrow just a fraction more as he straightens himself up a bit, opening his mouth to start his snappy speech about sleep and rules and whatnot, though heās quick to close his mouth when the boy already starts to give him a little explanation, placing his free hand on his hip, "Sleepwalking? Tell me, soldier, do you really expect me to believe such a shitty excuse like that? No one would wander out of their rooms this far just by sleepwalking.ā
Ā Ā Of course no one would believe him if he said he was sleepwalking. It sounds like a childish excuse. āEven if you donāt believe me, itās the truth, sir.ā Free sounded groggy as he spoke. He was trying not to fall asleep in the middle of the hallway. If he did then maybe heĀ couldĀ prove that he was actually sleepwalking. Of course, heād probably end up hitting Captain Levi in he sleep or something.
Ā Ā He took his hand away and huffed. āIāll be going back to my room, then.ā Free didnāt really want to go back but it was still pitch black outside.
The look on his face hadn't changed. A glare, on top of a clearly unamused expression. Levi wasn't here to stand and chitchat to someone who he seemingly caught 'sleepwalking', and so he simply nods at the muttered words that this one is going to head back- turning sharply on his heels and thus shielding the light away from the cadet, "Good idea. Try to actually sleep this time, yeah? I'd hate to catch you wandering about again," he won't even bring up that he's casuallllyy somewhat lost down here in the dark. No, he wasn't one to admit something like that to one of such a lower ranking.

Now, this whole task was not completely useless. He has, in fact, scolded a few soldiers for being not-so-subtle in their attempt at hushed whispers. They always stop once heās snapped at them to shut up and get some sleep. He canāt catch everyone though, but yes Levi knows all too well that at least a few of them are still up, and just managing to avoid a smack or a sharp comment from him. If they only all listened, now that would be even better. His boots were fairly silent as he whisks his way down the hall, making only a faint pattering sound as he moves across the spotless floor. Levi hadnāt found a reason yet to change out of uniform, and so he was wearing what he normally did through morning and afternoon. The presence of another hadnāt quite come to his attention yet, until he continued on at a fairly brisk pace- the corner of the soft light just making out the blur of a dark form. Was it-? It had to be a brat. It always was. He doesnāt speak quite yet, allowing himself to give a few ātsksā as he calmly moves forward.
Ā Ā Free held his head and groaned, thinking that he was just beginning to see things. Not that it was unusual for Freedom to be seeing things since it had been happening throughout his whole life. Still, seeing things was never a good sign. To prove that it was not a hallucination to himself, the hybrid walked towards the candlelight even though he was still in pajamas and should probably be going back to sleep instead.
Ā Ā āHello, is anyone there?ā he called. The flame made the boy squint and look up at a familiar form that was outlined behind it. āOh, Captain Levi? You should be asleep by now.ā Free admitted to himself that he should be back in bed as well. āI guess I was sleepwalking. Just woke myself up a second ago by walking into a wallā¦ā

Remember how I joked about teal haired Levi a while ago?
Andi told me to give Eren dip dye in his bangs and add her and my glasses on Eren and Levi. Then the teal hair followed and uh. I think Iām sold. he really rocks teal hairā¦.

Why the hell was he even up at this time-? Ah. Yes, right. Someone had to at least make sure all these brats were actually in their rooms and quiet. Levi hadnāt even been assigned to this shitty job- he simply took it upon himself. Frankly, these nights he wasnāt even tired anymore. And when he did try to sleep some nights, he never found himself able of doing so for more than thirty minutes at a time. If there was one thing he wouldnāt allow in this place, it was supposedly responsible soldiers running around, scuffing their boots all along his clean floors. Yeah, his. Not to mention they would all be tired in the morning if they were up at this time. A steel gaze stays locked forward, slicing through the dim light the candles brought to the otherwise black hallway. Right now, he wasnāt even sure he was near any of the rooms. How was it even possible to get lost in a building he knew so well-?
Ā Ā Sleepwalking. Not really something that Freedom knew himself to do but when he was subconsciously apprehensive, it became a habit for him to walk and speak while asleep. Somehow he was able to safely make it out of his bedroom without waking any of the other cadets and roamed quietly through the halls while in a dream.
Ā Ā The dream made the hybrid walk into something, suddenly making him wake up. It wasnāt so sudden but even Free himself couldnāt tell if he was awake or not. A small light at the end of the dark hall got larger and larger, closer and closer. Freedom squinted to see whatā or whoā it was, not making any sudden movements.
Now, this whole task was not completely useless. He has, in fact, scolded a few soldiers for being not-so-subtle in their attempt at hushed whispers. Erwin glanced around, despite there being a bag on his head. He stifled sever excited yet pained gasps as blood dripped down his neck and stained the bag.
All day he had dealt with work, filling out reports and scribbling a neat, arched signature onto papers that needed signing, whether they be giving permission to something or just him agreeing to whatever. It was shitty work but someone had to do it, and Levi? Well, whatever work he did he liked to be great at it. In a subtle way, of course. the sun had already began dropping when he put a period at the last of his papers and neatly stashed them to the side, rubbing his eyes as he stood up. He really needed to move, or sleepā¦though, honestly, he didnāt know which one he needed the most. Getting out of his office was a pleasant thing, Levi always liked to take strolls around the base. One thing he had not been expecting to see, was his Commander. He noticed the familiar voice of the sounds at first, and then the shape came into view. Next came the odd bag, and when narrowed eyes finally hit the crimson hue of blood, Levi stood frozen, āErwin? ā¦.Erwin, what the hell is this?ā
Levi shook his head, glancing down briefly to the horrid mess, āNo, no donāt worry about the mess. Iāllā¦I will clean it up later,ā he pulls his hand away slowly, the skin stained with blood from touching the otherās sleeve. He really didnāt want to continue touching the blood-soaked man, but someone needed to be his eyes, right? āI know it hurts, trust me. I- Where do you want to go? You need help, obviously, that blood will be a pain if it dries on you. The wounds need care, too, so you donāt bleed out and die,ā keeping himself calm was struggling but it was not a good time to panic, no one else was around to help anyways.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā~ āMaye⦠M-Maybe the b-bleeding should⦠Be stoppedā¦ā Erwin stammered and reached out a hand to grip Leviās sleeve. It was dark, but for a moment, he thought he could hear the shorter manās heartbeat⦠When one sense failed to work, the others strengthened quite a bit. The Commander was shaking with his head lowered, clinging to Levi and whimpering like a wounded animal. āI-I should h-helpā¦. Youā¦ā He sobbed, doing whatever he could to stay standing. The pain and the blood loss was making him dizzy, and he was afraid he was going to pass out at any moment. ~
Gradually, with only the slightest edge of improvement here and there, Levi relaxes into the situation. He didn't himself all worked up and horrified, because he figured that would simply make the taller man more upset. He refuses to let a twitch show as his sleeve is grabbed, simply staring at the mess of the Commander. He lets himself be, rather unprofessionally, clung to, not making the fuss that he felt he wanted to. The captain shakes his head and gives a low hum at the statement, patting a hand against Erwin's arm, "I don't need help, you do. Would you rather sit? I will grab the supplies if I need to."
Erwin glanced around, despite there being a bag on his head. He stifled sever excited yet pained gasps as blood dripped down his neck and stained the bag.

As soon as the words came out of his mouth, he knew he should not have said them. He opens his mouth to fix his mistake, but shuts up as he sees the expression on the taller maleās face, feeling his stomach drop at the words. He didnāt know what exactly he was feeling, he didnāt really know if he felt bad, heād rather his commander had not mutilated his face for him. The captain takes a cautious step forward as the space between them falls silent once more, moving his hands to start to reach out to Erwin, but he maneuvers away again at the shout, shaking his head quickly, āNo, no, you donāt-ā he flinches at the horrible screams, eyes widening as he watches the stitches tear off, blood spurting down the otherās clothing. He holds up his hands, moving closer as he tries to speak above the screams, not caring to watch the flesh being ripped apart once more as the stitches are pulled out, āStop that! Youāre bleeding all over the place, itās not worth it!ā Almost. Levi almost vomits right then and there as those bloody fingers turn to focus on digging out the only good eye Erwin had left. The screams were too much, the sight of torn flesh and all of the bloodā¦god, all of the blood on the floor. He stands, in pure shock and horror, as the screams finally end and the commander drops to the floor. Levi could feel his hands shaking, heart pounding against his chest and he moves forward, boots making a horrible squelching sound as they move into the pool of blood. One hand covers his mouth, the other moves up to shakily touch against Erwinās arm, his words muffled as they come out, āā¦..Commander, you lookā¦.ā What can he say? He didnāt need a repeat of what just happened, so lying was his only option, āFine. You look fine, but I suggest you get cleaned up.ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā~ Erwin whimpered, but the smile remained on his face. āR-Reallyā¦? Y-You think I-I look fineā¦?ā He chuckled, blood and tears staining his face. āGood⦠G-Good.. I made a mess t-though⦠I-Iām sorry about t-thatā¦.ā The Commander slowly forced himself to stand, legs shaking under the extreme agony he was in. āI am i-in a lot of pain⦠L-Levi⦠B-But it was w-worth it⦠In the endā¦.ā He brought a hand up to the other eye and he sobbed. āIt hurtsā¦. I canāt s-see⦠B-But for y-you⦠For youā¦ā ~

Levi was, in all honesty, a bit curious. It was a morbid curiosity, but curiosity nonetheless. He keeps his mouth shut tight, staring up at the man that he really should be worried about right now. Who knows? Maybe it was just a little cut, or an old scar freshly reopened. Oh he knew somewhere deep down inside of them neither of those options were the case, and although he tended not to overreact to things, he should probably be preparing in case he loses his dinner. Levi agrees with that last statement, dirt was bad enough as a mess, he didnāt need a pool of blood to have to get on his knees and clean up after either. His attention is pulled back to reality as he hears the bag shift, eyes immediately darting back up to watch as the sight unfolds in front of him. Oh. It makes him flinch, taking a half step back as his eyes widen a fraction, shock and disgust coming over him first. Levi shakes his head slowly, just staring at all of the horrid stitchings andā¦that eye, holy shit- Levi just stares in silence despite the question, eventually glancing to the extended arms. He will take another step back, arms tightening around his we aināt, āErwinā¦I- what have you done? Look at you! What do you mean what I think? Youāveā¦youāve completely torn apart your face, and for what reason?! To get past an argument?ā He has to stop to take a breath, unable to look at that face anymore, āYou look like shit thatās what I think. Go to a medic, please, get that fixed!ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā~ His excited, expectant expression turned into shock and disappointment. āAre you sayingā¦. You donāt like itā¦.? But⦠Leviā¦ā His remaining eye looked down at his feet, and his hand clenched up into a tight fist. āDamn itā¦. I did this for you⦠All of the pain and suffering⦠For whatā¦? Maybeā¦ā The Commander paused, lowering his head. His shoulders shook with heavy sobs, and he did only that for several minutes. āI will have to change my image againā¦!ā Then he shouted, lifting his head up, hand shooting up to grip at the stitches on his face.
With loud screams he tore them off, tearing the flesh on his face. Blood drenched his hands and ran down his sleeves, pooling up onto the floor around his feet. Then he began trying to dig his own eye out with his fingers, his cries of anguish and pain echoing around him. After a while, he fell to his knees, a twisted smile beginning to take form. āT-There⦠I⦠I must look better⦠Messy⦠B-But b-betterā¦.ā ~

The words made the captain a little uneasy, his gaze fixed on the blood coming from that bag. And those wordsā¦what had the taller man done now? āSmall accidentā was what really got to him, and one could only imagine what was hiding under that bag. Despite Leviās rather obvious discomfort, he stands his ground, arms folded tightly across his waist. If the worst happens, just walk away. Right now, he would rather keep Erwin happy and go along with whatever his commander had done to himself. He twitches at the laugh, a little twinge of a movement that would go unnoticed if someone wasnāt paying close attention to him. He keeps his distance, not letting himself closer than a good five feet away, āAlthough I am cautious as to what you have gone and done, I am sure it wasā¦with logic and reason,ā a brief pause as he takes a breath to continue, āYou must realize that one argument does not ruin an entire manās friendship, right? I donāt tend to be one to hold grudges for long. But yes, Erwin, I am prepared as ever to see what is underneath that bag,ā his words were riddled his lies, his face as emotionless as always but his insides were churning and he could feel the butterflies in his stomach; not the good kind, unfortunately.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā~ Erwin raised a hand with a rapid nod, though was careful that the bag didnāt fall off. āOf course, of course! But I didnāt like the outcome either way⦠And I have been thinking about this for a while now. Itās a special present, very special.ā He waggled a finger at Levi before gripping the bag tightly. āI should take it off slowly, or I might tear the stitches againā¦. Then my blood will cover my face and you wonā be able to see what I have done⦠And there would be a mess. We donāt want that.ā
As he finish speaking, he slowly began to lift the bag, revealing his face underneath. His face was covered in stitches, the areas around each stitch bloody and red. His left eye was closed and slightly sunken in, there being nothing underneath anymore. His lips and parts of his cheeks were cut into, all cuts made vertically. They looked reopened, the cause of the blood dripping down his face. āThis was the accidentā¦.ā Erwin murmured, pointing to his eye. āI got a little careless⦠Sadly I will be blind in this eye from now on.ā Then he extended his arms out towards Levi. āSoā¦.? What do you think?ā ~

Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā ā~ "Levi!" Erwin jumped, though more in excitement than surprise, and the Commander turned his head quickly in attempt to pinpoint the other manās exact location. "Itās a little bit of a surprise⦠Do you remember what you said the other dayā¦.? Something about imageā¦." He muttered happily as he crossed his arms. "I never cared about my image at firstā¦. But this is a step that must be taken⦠I am very proud of the results⦠Despite the small accidentā¦"
The blond laughed. āI must have reopened one of the wounds⦠But the bleeding should stop soon. Now, Levi.ā He then turned to face him, yet still he could not see. āAre you ready? I will only take of the bag when you are prepared to see what I have done⦠For you, of course. Why else would I do this? If it makes up for the argument we had that one dayā¦.ā ~
