Five easy ways to store fresh food for winter right in your garden — it’s as easy as tossing a bagful of leaves over a patch of carrots!

Do not let making a living prevent you from making a life.

“Human beings are the only animals who have to work, and I think that is the most ridiculous thing in the world. Other animals make their livings by living, but people work like crazy, thinking that they have to in order to stay alive. The bigger the job, the greater the challenge, the more wonderful they think it is. It would be good to give up that way of thinking and live an easy, comfortable life with plenty of free time. I think that the way animals live in the tropics, stepping outside in the morning and evening to see if there is something to eat, and taking a long nap in the afternoon, must be a wonderful life. For human beings, a life of such simplicity would be possible if one worked to produce directly his daily necessities. In such a life, work is not work as people generally think of it, but simply doing what needs to be done.”

I love movies and I prefer the ones that have some connection with prepping. here's a lit of the best ones. which is your favourite?
Note the armored cars. They belong to the police, not the army. Makes you think: can this be the same pattern as in the USA with the national guard?
Highway M1, 2013
Luckily I wasn't going anywhere this weekend. But if I would have gone somewhere, I would have been stranded on the highway with a thousand other motorists.
Whenever I leave the city by car, I take some basic stuffs with me: extra pullover, shovel, some food, water, flashlights, things like that.
Being prepared can make the difference between freezing in your car overnight or being safe and sound in the morning when help finally comes. If it comes at all...

Titanium Escape Ring
A useful tool for covert and undercover operators, those that travel abroad in unstable countries, or anyone at risk of being held unlawfully.
The Titanium Escape Ring adds another tool to the operator’s E&E options for escaping captivity.
It’s a simple but elegant-looking ring made of titanium, cut from solid barstock and polished to a mirror finish.
But unlike all other rings, this one contains a saw and handcuff shim pick combination tool which is completely hidden from view when worn.
Located on a finger, its always in the exact area needed to quickly access and deploy, even when handcuffed.
The shim can be used to open single-locked handcuffs, while the saw can cut zip-ties, disposable handcuffs, duct tape, rope, and other non-metallic materials.
This stainless steel tool is 2” x 1/8” x 1/64”, and its unusual flexibility allows it to curve around and be seated in the ring’s interior.
The Micro Escape Tool is a replacement tool for this item.
Made in USA.
Fits Ring size 11-12
Ring is Mens size 12, but fits smaller with the escape tool installed.

Up-to-Date Earthquake Kit Will Increase Your Survival Chances
“It’s never too late to prepare for the next big earthquake. The California Emergency Management Agency advises that the first 72 hours after a disaster are critical. Electricity, gas and water may be unavailable and first responders will be busy focusing emergency services on the most serious crises.
Having an earthquake kit is key to toughing it out on your own. Your kit should be easily accessible and have enough supplies for you, your family and pets to survive for at least three days.”

Packing for our hike last week, I realized that the only first aid kit I had was for the dog. Over time, I’ve accepted the fact that if something were to happen to Batman on our travels, I’d be well-prepared with an 18-piece kit; whereas, if something happened to me, I’d just curl up helplessly...
