These two girls attempted to kill a girl in the woods.  It was a planned action to try and scare “slenderman”.  This shows how powerful the internet is and it can influence many people literally.

The significance of this quote is important because Yumi is explaining that there wasn't much Asian American females on T.V.  She tells some of her favorite role models from this time, Kristi Yamaguchi, Margret Cho, and Trini Kwan.

Reading response

After reading chapter 2, it talked about the authors choices in analyzing design choices.  They gave 5 main designs, emphasis, contrast, organization, alignment, and proximity.  Emphasis gives a stress on a particular thing and this helps the readers to understand the text better.   Contrast is the difference between elements in a text. this includes size, color, and font.  Organization is the way the author organizes his/her piece to meet the readers needs, whether to understand it better or to make it look nice.  Alignment is how things line up, this will allow readers to move their eyes with less determination.  Proximity means the closeness of things such as text or pictures, this can help the readers understand materials better.

Reading response

6) In this reading it talked about the different modes of multimodal.  Linguistic, visual, aural, spatial, and gestural.  Multimodal is different ways of communicating through text.  The book explained these modes and I can analyze how it relates with social media platforms.  Take twitter for example, the visual aid to the user is good because there are many pictures and eye candy for the user to look at.  Linguistic modes on twitter are used in many different ways, people can be formal or informal about the things they post.  Most of the time people use words that are in style, such as lol, fam... Aural mode in twitter features many videos with sounds and the app itself has sounds.  When you refresh your page there is a little popping noise.  There’s also music and many other sounds. Spatial mode on twitter is good, the arrangement of things on the platform makes it easy for the user to find things and use the app to it’ s fullest. Gestural on social media apps can be used when there is a video of a person moving their body or making a facial expression, this helps people communicate their feelings and lets them know how they feel.
