Slenderman: I am very scary and dangerous
Two girls: I aM vErY ScAry ANd DaNGerOus
These two girls attempted to kill a girl in the woods. It was a planned action to try and scare “slenderman”. This shows how powerful the internet is and it can influence many people literally.
“The difference is moderation: the governance mechanisms that structure participation in a community to facilitate cooperation and prevent abuse.”
This quote illustrates the importance of moderating online communities. What is said online can greatly influence what is done offline. With this, it is important to synergize online rather than breaking each other down.
After trying this Twine game and reading more about them, I realize how difficult they can be. I definitely appreciate the work that went into Ultra Business Tycoon III.

Document Alpha-Zeta-2 Versus SCP-1172: Double Word Scare
Document Alpha-Zeta-2 shows diary entries of one person, who stays in a room and wishes for human contact and remembrance. The person recalls different events throughout his or her day. These events include seemingly unimportant details about the day; for example, the diary opens by mentioning the writer wanting a snack and later talks about eating a sausage sandwich. The excitement of the entries occurs on day 1,900, when a lizard with a giant on its back breaks down the wall to the writer’s room. I thought that this was an interesting approach for the diary, which I fully believe was a hoax. The entries slowly built to the exciting moment and ended with a sad touch, with the writer stating: “I wish someone would remember me.” The SCP-1172: Double Word Scare article took on a slightly different approach. The writing was much more formal, but it still utilized seemingly unimportant details like the diary entries did. For example, the description explains that there are tiles held in a “linen bag made from thick flax fibres.” I think that this very exact description is used to build credibility and formality, giving the entry a realistic appearance. I believe that the writers of both entries purposefully included these details to appear more credible, since they both will be viewed with some skepticism.
For this post, I listened to the first podcast episode of Serial: The Alibi. I had never heard a Podcast before, so I was curious about the popularity of this type of content. According to the link, podcasts are slowly growing in popularity. A minority of people in the United States listen to them on a regular basis (21% of people were reported to have listened to at least one Podcast in the past month in 2016).
