Welcome to Hunter in Pharloom! Pinned post finally lol.

The original purpose of this blog was to make Hunter's Journal entries for Silksong enemies from the perspective of The Hunter from the original Hollow Knight, but now I am taking submissions for various creatures from different games and responding or making entries in character.

The Trolls of Alternia are certainly very strange bugs.

Sometimes, on the surface, the fog clears and you can look up and see a seemingly endless expanse filled with bright lights. Are there other bugs out there? Are they like us, or different? Perhaps they enjoy toying with us, connecting through unknown means...

Seems like you've had a fruitful journey throughout Pharloom! Not that I have doubts about your competence, but while you're still here- if you ever find yourself in a pinch and you're around the Citadel, the new Songclave caretaker is always eager to help. Even just listening to his song makes you feel lighter! Perhaps you've already met him? I think he goes by Sherma.

I have seen that cheery, noisy little pilgrim a few times throughout Pharloom. He seems almost determined to die, and I do not understand how he has not. I would consider doing it myself, but now I find him more interesting alive than dead... It is amusing to watch such a weak thing somehow make its way! Or perhaps he is carried by a strength of spirit that is harder to see...

Hey, Hunter, what do you think of Leviathans from Rainworld

Once, while trying to visit one of the large water masses supposedly found on the surface, I finally came upon one. I looked out over the horizon, and a pair of metallic rods stuck out of the water. I thought they were artificial, until they snapped shut like a jaw and fell beneath surface. I believe we bugs may just not be suited for the world in those waters.

Dunno if you have already been asked to hunt this or not, but I think the Reaper Leviathan or Collector Leviathan would be a challenge even for you!

In the world above, enormous bodies of water are said to exist, ones containing beasts of unimaginable scale. Water hunting is already difficult, but a mass so large that the land is not even visible... It is a chilling thought. How large and powerful would a creature have to be to survive in such a place?

Bugs with little else to do sometimes wonder whether the world is real or if it exists only in the mind of some greater being. I find such pondering ridiculous, as even if that is the case, this reality is all we have and we should live in it properly. Perhaps a good hunt would make the world feel more real!

I have wondered what it would be like to hunt myself, but it is not something I can test without snuffing my own life out, and even that would not quite be the same. I do often wonder what a fellow hunter would write about me...

Greetings, Hunter. Your goal of cataloging such a vast array of creatures and beasts enthralls me, and as such i will likely be returning here on occassion to present my findings. To start with...

I found this oversized ocular monstrosity last night, out in the forest.

Some beings are said to be so large and powerful that even their lost body parts pose a threat. I have always doubted such thing, but this creature... I struggle to think of another reason that it would exist.

A formidably large yet at first unthreatening creature that makes its danger apparent the moment it opens its wide maw full of enormous teeth. Such a display would do well in deferring most hunters, but only most!

Language is a valuable thing, but some become so obsessed with it that the world becomes nothing but words to them, seeing letters where life and landscape used to be. Do not fall into this trap! The creatures in this journal are better experienced than read.

Hello, Hunter. I’ve gotta say, seeing your journal entries about silksong enemies has been very entertaining, seeing how expressive and thoughtful each entry is lovely to read. It actually has inspired me to make an entire hunters journal of my own, but not one of your own land, but of one called Pi’illo Island. The creatures there are very unique, and your writing has made me commit to this! I’ve already gotten a bit of progress with at least 10-20 entries already done.

In the meantime while I fill out notes, however, could you give your notes on the Islands Protector, The Zeekeeper?

I have seen this bird in my dreams, its bright rainbow glow giving the impression of safety that the blinding light of the Infection lacks. Is it a neutral observer of our dreams, or a guardian? If it is the latter, clearly it is neglecting its duty!

I am fascinated by the lifestyle of creatures such as this, those which attempt to build up large stores of fat before becoming dormant for long stretches. Why would you want to spend as much of your life as possible unconscious? So few beings seem to understand the purpose of living.

Hey yall, quick housekeeping post, I want a way to quickly access the original set of Hunter's Journal posts before I started doing submissions and have three main ideas on how to go about that: go back and give them their own searchable tag retroactively, stop using the #hunter in pharloom tag on my current posts, or make a doc archiving all of them.

Which would you prefer?

Hunter, it appears there is someone with the same desire to understand and record creatures as you do here in Pharloom. She's asked the red-cloaked spider to do the killing for her on account of hunting not being in her nature, claiming that hers is to come later and learn, which she does. Defenseless though she looks, she unflinchingly navigates Pharloom's teacherous grounds to inspect the morbid carcasses of monsters the spider has left in her wake. Not a hunter, but a commendable desire to learn. What do you think?

I have seen a small creature with an odd mouth inspecting the corpses of some of the creatures of this land... I suppose it is admirable to attempt to learn about the life in this world even if you are weak, but I believe she should learn to kill on her own. Giving up on the Hunt simply because you are small and soft is cowardly!

Could you do an entry on Miraak, the First Dragonborn from Skyrim’s Dragonborn DLC?

Bugs in slumber appear to be especially easy to manipulate... I suppose I should expect the vulnerability of the mind to reflect the vulnerability of the body. It makes me wonder what the purpose of dreams are if they leave us so open, however.

Greetings, Hunter. Have you ever seen a trail up above, akin to the mythical "shooting star" surface bugs claim to exist, only instead of falling, this trail shoots upward in an arc so smooth and steep no aerial bugs ever manage? Apparently if one is close or keen-eyed enough to observe its trailmaker, one would see an enormous blue cap dotted with yellow pulps atop a plump, grey body. The Herald, marking the passing of on Age, or so they say. I imagine someone as ambitious as you are would have been to a lot of places and seen a lot of things. You do not appear to me to be inclined toward fanciful stories made to entertain the mind, but perhaps the challenge in hunting an elusive and unreachable "rising star" may interest you?

I have seen an odd mushroom mumbling to himself on occasion... Surely this isn't referring to that? I never paid it much mind, but when I glimpsed its eyes, there was a certain knowing look in them... I doubt all this about the passing of the Age, but perhaps there is a wisdom it possesses that it does not want to share. I would like to find this creature now!
