An older black man I met while fishing today today me a story about when he was a teenager. He said he was walking and saw all of these people in white robes and white masks where you could only see the eyes. Your typical KKK meeting. He said it scared him, and rightfully so, but he said what scared him most were the dozens of empty cop cars sitting at that meeting. He said that’s why he didn’t trust cops. He turned and ran as fast and far away as he could. I cannot imagine the fear that coursed through his body that night or the the terror he must feel seeing a cop today. The police force hasn’t changed since he was a teenager and while some may have lost the physical mask, the proverbial ones still exist. I see you sir and I stand with you. BLM.
