4. If the car pulls up to you run in the opposite direction.
5. Walk with your keys in your hands and keep a key between each finger
6. If they put you in the trunk kick out the headlights

That scream fire piece of advice is literally life saving
8. Watch your shadows and reflections, especially if someone is walking behind you. A split second notice is better than none and will help you.

girls have to learn to view the world like international intelligence agents just to be safe walking down the street. smh.
guys pls pls pls reblog and girls pls pls pls be safe out there. terrifying and so sad that we have to worry about this on a daily basis
(I’m an enby, but, frankly, this is helpful for anyone.)
- always tell someone where youre at and an approx time when youll be back
I used to think my mom was just hyper vigilent bc her dad was a cop and he’d seen some scary shit when she would tell me stuff like this, but I guess it’s just a “female” thing
This. Some other tips I was given:
If someone grabs you, shove your weight into them rather than pulling away because you have a better chance of throwing them off balance and getting out of grasp.
Learn the major pressure points for temporarily disabling someone and hit them there if you get the chance (groin, nose, etc). There’s some good YouTube videos on these self defense techniques
Practice situational awareness. This is a learned skill but basically you’re always assessing the area for sketchy people, exits, makeshift defense weapons, etc. There are books and articles on this that are helpful on learning how to do this well.
Trust your gut. If something feels off or you even sense a hint of discomfort, don’t hesitate to immediately get out of the area or situation. Your gut is right a lot of the time so don’t let someone minimize that.
I hate we even have to give/practice these tips but stay safe out there ladies!
Some tips for us all!
Situational awareness is the best one. Also hairstyles: ponytails and buns are very easy to grab, as is long hair that is left down, so try to avoid those. Wear shoes you can run in and clothes you can fight in.
