“Ah, I understand completely, Hiei.” Kuvira nods. After reading the Republic City Times and the few interview with the young officer over the last couple of years that had Kuvira almost do a double take at Hiei’s face. A hard stare 

“And yes. Suyin Beifong is expecting us later, but I was assigned to give you a tour of Zaofu and discuss our spirit vine problem.” It was odd that the United Forces head and his very attractive assistant were dropping everything to travel spirits-know-how-long to observe spirit vine activity in Zaofu. It was odd. Just odd.

Hiei knew that the United Forces’ reasoning was ridiculous, but that was the reason she had to give when asked by anyone that wasn’t high-ranked personnel. This security captain included, no matter how friendly she appeared.

Noticing Kuvira was motioning towards the train across from the one Hiei had just stepped off, she followed her lead. “I assume this train is to take us all within Zaofu?”

Kuvira grew nervous over waiting for the train from Republic City to arrive. The sprit vines intertwining Zaofu was apparently normal all over the world after Harmonic Convergence, but Kuvira couldn’t help but be irritated by how they’ve interrupted so many ways of life in her city. General Iroh II and Lieutenant General Hiei were to be coming at noon.

Finally. Kuvira stands tall with Aiwei on the platform as a train turns up into the station. She watches as the iron train rolls to a halt, then as both officers step off with the experienced posture of firebenders. “Hello, General Iroh and Lieutentant Hiei. I am Kuvira, the head of security here in Zaofu.”

Hiei’s recent promotion several weeks ago had her thanking that she wasn’t concealed within a deathtrap of paperwork to fill out for her superiors at the time. Being General Iroh’s assistant meant she was his right-hand woman, furiously taking down notes or chasing down war criminal. After lightheartedly arguing with him about the state of how much starch should be used on each uniform, it seemed that time had passed by too quickly.

A young Zaofu guard and an official had been there to greet the two of them once the train stopped into Zaofu’s station. Studying the guard closely as she spoke, Hiei noted that this “Kuvira” was roughly the same age as her.

“Please, call me Hiei. I fear I’m not too comfortable with my new title yet. I’m sure you got the telegram about our reasons for being here?”
