It had been barely a week and Julia was already more than miserable. She had never been this sore in her life and she attended pilates bootcamp twice a week. It took every ounce of her strength to not topple over when she picked up a bale of hay, and she was honestly fed up. Sitting on the cold barn floor with her back against the bale, she sat by her lonesome and pouted. Her parents weren’t the most loving people in the world, but she never thought that they would betray her like this. Living on this farm was the equivalent of torture, Jules was sure of that. Henry was bound to come in at any given moment and give her hell for sitting down, but he could shove it as far as she was concerned. Normally, Julia tried her best to get along with cute boys, just for the sake of her own benefit but the last thing she wanted to do was get along with Henry. He was everything she wasn’t–and that was the worst insult in Julia’s mind. “Tell me to move and I’ll kick you in the ankles.” she warned, knowing he had to be near by.
it’s been longer than it should be and henry knows, without even having to look, that julia has probably given up already. one simple task and she can’t even do that without throwing a hissy fit. henry tries not to roll his eyes, setting his shovel against the barn wall and wiping the sweat off his brow. “you’ve seriously given up that easily?” henry says as he makes the trek to the other side of the barn and sees julia on the floor. he reaches behind her and picks up the bale with one arm, not even breaking a sweat. “i’m not going to tell you to move. you can sit there and rot for all i give a damn.”
