I have been unavailable to attend many actual exhibitions, but the few I have I have documented and kept information on the artist, I have reflected on the work in my day journal and note book.

Some pages of my visual research, I have further contextual research attached to the images in my note books and digital day journal
Developing the idea of what the residency Villages is for.
My note book with preliminary scotches and writings. This is where I develop my counsels and work out ways to make effects eg layering, composition, colour choices. I write about the things I have read, the documentary I have seen and day to day things that I have noticed .

A large vessel used for the production and storage of wine. These are the biggest vessel I have seen with the latest belly. I’m going to research these more and see if I can see any in the museums collections.
I have been contacting gallery’s to see if I can be put in contact with working class artists, I have been researching working class artists and how and what the effects are of this upbringing. How the art world is not made for people from this background. It is expected that to make something of your self you must become middle class in your behaviour. Guts gallery is a London based gallery, the woman who set it up is called elli and she is from a working class background, she is onboard with the project and has put me in contact with a number of artists. In June I will be interviewing the artist via zoom. This is a personal project. I want to have something to continue with when I am in between doing my master. I’m excited about this project, it really feels like it is mine.
MFA
Laura P suggested that I look at this course. The tutors and course modules look amazing. I will go into more details on my Exit velocity document.
I have just got the book published by the bluecoates gallery , a book of poetry on working class ness
Fusco is a writer who talks of the personal effect of growing up working class. Growing up poor, in the wrong area, with the wrong sort of parents. How social mobility does not and can not change behaviour ingrained in a person who has experienced such childhoods. This is something that I am just discovering now, that people feel this also, because it has been something so hard to talk about, there is a shame attached to admitting these feelings and experiences. I have just started a course of counselling to finally confront this. I have always felt like it is me with a chip on my shoulder, that that was then and this is now. I can afford things. But it’s not as simple as that. I don’t know fully what it is that I need to do to get beyond these feelings. If I can. But to actually hear someone admit the difficulties of growing up working class is such a huge revelation. I cried listening to her poetry. Because I knew what she was talking about exactly. I can understand poetry , I can appreciate it, I can drink wine and eat a cheese board in a fancy restaurant. I can, and have learnt these middle class behaviours. But that doesn’t change anything really. But I got this.
I have been dipping in and out of the book Colour and abstraction by George Blacklock since it was suggested I get the book by Brendan. Colour choice has been something if feel I need to improve my understanding of to improve my painting. The first image is what I did first off but I feel like the white on the yellow was not applied well so took it all off again... usually I would keep it and carry on fighting with the mistakes I have made. But I feel like I need to think more and learn to get a more mature approach to my work.
Applications for artists to be part of the 2022 Manchester Open Exhibition will open on Wednesday, 16 June.
I was successful in the first one so will be applying for this Open. It was such a good exhibition to be part of
