Duel Academy.

It was the best school out there designed to teach and train duelists. Owned by none other than Seto Kaiba, the academy had a great record. The students that graduated were said to be among the best.

Black shoes clicked against the hallway floor as Seto made his way around the academy’s main building, heading to the main office. Small groups of students scattered here and there stared as he walked by, whispering waves of questions among themselves. While some recognized him, others learned from the questions being asked. The questions varied greatly, but they all had one main theme: what was Seto Kaiba doing at Duel Academy?

The answer was simple. Seto had come to test the best students of the academy. In other words, he came to duel.

If it’s possible for him to perk up even more than he already has, he would. 

His cheeks are burning, his hands are vibrating, and his heart is beating at an almost alarming rate. It can’t be helped, he’s unable to keep himself together, with none but one thought in his mind:

Kaiba Seto’s in Duel Academy! 

He’s been running for what feels like hours, even if it’s only been a few minutes since he heard the news–he doesn’t even know what to say when he inevitably finds Kaiba, but he decided to cross that bridge when he gets to it.

He’s going to prove himself against the one-and-only rival of the King of Duelists, who’s now not even 3 feet away from him.

“Kaiba-san! My name’s Yuki Judai–please allow me a duel!”

His words are spilling over each other, his tone rising in both pitch and volume. He’s excited, and, for once, minding his manners–going so far as to use an honorific. 

Judai’s here for his match and he won’t leave without it... so long as Kaiba doesn’t mind.

“Ratatouille's a weird name for a stew.. Why do they call it that? If you're gonna name a food, you should give it a name that sounds delicious..”

Nonsensical and tired, Judai focuses his sight on the stranger sitting not too far from him. Is he trying to make friends? Trying to distract himself not to fall asleep? Does he even realize that he’s talking? Who knows? 

He sure doesn’t.

“Ratatouille doesn't sound delicious. It sounds like ‘rat’ and ‘patootie’. Rat-patootie! ...which does not sound delicious.”

Judai steps in front of his friend with one fried shrimp in his hand, and the other held in his mouth with his teeth, uncaring about the scalding insides burning his mouth.

“You know, Manjoume? It’s okay.. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.”

Que his inaudible, muffled words of wisdom.
