Post-Josei Jam Update and Gratitude

Over a full week has passed since the demo for Spoonful of Sugar was released and we are all FLOORED by the reception you've all given us—

WOWIE!!

We are so very happy and extremely grateful for the kind comments, critiques, and love we have received over the past few days for our passion project. For many in the HydraStudio team, this is their first jam and foray into the visual novel medium, so there had been many hiccups along the way pushing ourselves to learn new techniques and skills under the pressure of the Josei Jam's time limit.  While we weren't looking for perfection, we still ended up feeling rather satisfied with what we were able to accomplish and knowing that so many others here can also see our vision is incredibly gratifying—we are humbled by your feedback!

At present, HydraStudio is taking a post-jam break from game development for the month of July. Discussions for a roadmap likely won't be until around August-September, when another devlog will update you all on our expectations going forward with Spoonful of Sugar. If you're interested in keeping in touch with the team and fun easter eggs surrounding the game, please check out our Bsky and/or right here on our Tumblr, where we can receive submissions and answer most questions you may have regarding Casimir and the MC (spoiler-free, of course).

Hey just out of curiosity is the character we play as gender neutral or non binary or are they explicitly fem mc or mas mc, I really hope this doesn't come as offensive or dumb. I love your game and have been playing non stop since even after reaching the end, lovely work, I cant wait to see future updates.😊 💚

It's not offensive or dumb; it's perfectly okay to ask!

While the team will usually refer to the MC as "Twig" or "they/them" both in-game and in posts, it's mostly out of habit.

The MC can have any pronouns, but for the story itself, we'll be continuing to refer to them as "they/them", but you're more than fine to refer to them as "he/him" or "she/her"!

I played your game demo recently and honestly? It is just so great.

I really love the vibes from the game in general. The backgrounds are so beautiful and the soundtrack is also so nice to listennn

Dont get me started on Cas. He already has me on a chokehold, i fear. How dare he be such a cute fae hhhhh i cant resist that grin of his-

One thing i noticed in his design was the fact he always has his right eye covered. I wonder if he just does that to raise his rizz(trademark) or if he actually has a scar or something else he wants to cover.. (no need to answer this, just yapping my ideas)

I love how you play with the fact he is a fae. Like, he drugged us because we didnt trust him/pressed him for answers in the first scene. Such a short moment of discomfort made him actually put a sleep drug in the tea so we could "start over". Words DO have an extra effect on him... 🫠

What a manipulative silly (not) lil guy. I cant wait for more of him

We weren't able to dive too deeply into the fun fae shenanigans with Casimir, but the team is SO excited to show it off in later updates~ Words have plenty of effect on him, too ;))) You'll see more of that as well~~
