When i was 7

Birthday meant a party, a cake and presents

When i was 12

Birthday meant money to buy things and treat friends

When i was 16

Birthday meant a special gift from besties and ‘special someone’

Now i am 18

Birthday means i’m getting older. Which makes me afraid.

Afraid of getting older. Afraid that i couldn’t do things i used to love. Afraid that i will change into someone i used to hate. Afraid that my time is shorter and i haven’t done meaningful things. Afraid that i’ll dissapoint people. Afraid of my high expectations. Afraid of the future i’m gonna hold. Afraid of things that i should’ve done.

— So that’s some of my thoughts i have in my 18th birthday.
