It'd be one thing if kit wanted the best for surge but the idea of his best for her was completely perfect and morally sound, but its a lot more complicated than him just wanting what is best for her in general vs what outcome for her makes him stay a crutch in her life. His character and programming has always been more about supporting their codependency than anything to actually make Surge make progress as a person. If anything i think he sees them as more of a concept and state he has to maintain than people. Kits desperate as fuck is the thing it makes him a little selfish with it, Kits idea of what surge should be doing is staying with and relying on him forever. Thats part of what makes him such an interesting character, thats also why flawed characters are the best to me. ie. if something came along that makes surge happy but it doesnt involve him contributing significantly in some way its flawed and should be rejected. Everything needs to involve him somehow. Kit showing he is willing to potentially hurt / upset surge just to force himself to be a constant in her life made actual leaps and bounds for how interesting he is as a character, the underlying sauce was always there but its really been tapped into now. I think a lot of people forget kit is not a perfect support for surge, and i would even argue he holds her back in so many ways. And just because he is a victim doesn't mean he cannot still be manipulative and well meaning all at the same time.

its really tragic that the one thing he was made to do, he isn't really the greatest at executing in a way thats entirely helpful or without harm.
