Don't Starve is among my favorite games on the Switch of all time. Every time I turn it on, I know I'm going to lose hours out of my day because I can just get lost in these worlds and will get lost in these worlds every time that I play it.
From having a cute, creepy-sounding loading screen to having customizable worlds you can pretty much fully customize (you can select what monsters exist on the worlds and how many there are, how long the days and nights are, if you want nights at all, what animals and resources there are and how much they respawn, etc) to having online play so you can play and survive with your friends, this game has it all.
There are enemies to fight and a lot more ways to die than a lot of the survival games I've played. I bought the version with the DLC called Hamlet, which comes with two additional worlds you can play. The Hamlet world is very difficult and great for gamers like me that love to be challenged. Then There's Shipwrecked, where you're wrecked on an island and can go from island to island, trying to collect resources and get back home.
You collect characters, which each have different perks. My personal favorites are the lumberjack, who can cut down trees way faster than any of the other characters but will turn into a werewolf if you cut trees in too quick of succession, which will make it so you can no longer craft items and you have to eat things much quicker to survive but you can eat just about anything and Walani, who's an adorable little surfer girl. The Lumberjack comes with an axe that never breaks and the surfer girl comes with a surfing board that also never breaks, so you can surf from island to island instantly instead of having to craft something first.
I have never fully completed any of the worlds, as some characters can go insane very easily and others can go hungry quickly. However, the challenge of staying alive more than 15 or so days is so fun and difficult that it's a challenge that keeps my attention for hours and hours at a time.
I give this game 10/10 because it is fun and multiplayer and so customizable. Your imagination is basically the limit. I recommend this game to anyone that likes to play with friends and that loves surivival simulators.
