Updated Ione’s (light world) ref sheet a little bit and drew a new headshot for her! So now she’s my first official character on artfight, with hopefully a few more coming soon (once i draw them….)

Im really happy with how they came out! I changed their eyes to make them more interesting and so they’d work for more complex designs that I want to make in the future <333

The Green Green-blooded Tree Skink (Prasinohaema virens),  from New Guinea, has green blood!!! The substance that causes this, and also makes some of the tissues and organs turn green, is called biliverdin. This substance is also highly toxic, and those who devour this little fellow.

erm accidental breakthrough for my own harlequin monster design,, these guys would hit the mark for a lot of his characteristics— they also keep alluding to the fact you wouldnt wanna bite him (or some of the other tbf) maybe its bc hes poisonous.

I also like the idea that hes a mix with Bothrops bilineatus because its the right color, is venomous, and also has a prehensile tail

I was struck by some fans' visions of Harlequin: he's so impenetrable, interested only in "carnal pleasure," and snorting at any displays of affection between Pierrot and MC.

That he stubbornly tries to convince everyone, including himself, that he doesn't care, that he's uncomfortable, and that he's only interested in self-indulgence. But seeing their kindness and attention to each other, he always feel a sense of oppressive emptiness. A tightness in chest, a nagging feeling that makes all the flirting and joking seem less fun.

And then comes social withdrawal, alienation, and loneliness, with a feeling of rejection.

That's what makes me want to console him

I really love how this artist portrays the inner turmoil that harlequin faces. I’ve always loved characters that put on an “arrogant” or “annoying” facade to hide their more sensitive and negative feelings out of fear of rejection and isolation. I love seeing their inner conflict of purposefully distancing themselves from others then trying to ignore the lonely feeling that just wont go away. Its a cycle of self loathing that I can really relate to and it just humanizes them in a way that makes me want to spend my time drawing them consoled and understanding them and writing them happy endings where they finally achieve that happiness and connection they long for 🥹

redraw of the cover art of Witch (ALNST). listen to that song it's really good and it reminds me a lot of harlequin and pierrot. I was going to draw pierrot instead of harle but some lyrics do not match him well (like the usage of "babe, hold my hand, mademosielle, let me take you" that was just so harlequin)
