Under a cut because of spoilers for evolved art of Ebisu Rei, the reward card of Lucky Talisman Royale (招福！縁起物ロワイヤル～福は天下の回りもの～).

Aside from being a pun on Rei's name, Rei Zankyou (零残響, lit. "Zero Resonance"), the alcohol Rei is aiming for in Lucky Talisman Royale, is a parody of several series of alcohol by Niizawa Brewery:

残響 (zankyou, "Resonance") Super 7 is an alcohol series with the percentage of polished rice from brown rice being 7%

零響 (reikyou) - Absolute Zero - has less than 7%

零響 - Crystal Zero - is also less than 7% but is higher-quality than Absolute Zero.

Absolute Zero has an individually-made box by craftspeople, only 3 bottles can be made per day and only 333 bottles are made each year for Japan, the US, Asia and Europe for a total of 999 bottles.

Rei Zankyou, on the other hand, is said to be the world's most delicious Japanese alcohol (nihonshu) and only has 33 bottles made every year.

Rei is dressed as Ebisu in the ARB event Lucky Talisman Royale (招福！縁起物ロワイヤル～福は天下の回りもの～). Ebisu is also the face which appears in the Shoumon Raifuku (Fortune Comes to Those who Smile) music video.

Translation Diaries (69) - Performing Continuously as the Shark and Comedian Sasara

As of the time of writing this post on the 5th of April 2026, this Wikia page had this card translated as "The Shark Comedian Who Stays Onstage". However, that would suggest Sasara is always the shark. In the event itself, he starts as himself, but then switches to being a stand-in for the CGI shark. This took a few attempts, but this translation was the best way I could explain that.

(Sidenote: Sasara uses a different pronoun as a shark - he uses watashi as a shark (to suggest gender neutrality/not being human) and ore as himself.)

One ARB event is called "Diamante Ixion". "Diamante" is French, but "Ixion" is Greek. (You can confirm the spelling of "Ixion" via turning the deco sticker for pt. 2 of the event upside down, although there is a Greek king and a planetoid called Ixion as well.)

Translation Diaries (67/68) - Street Performer Sasara and Ninja Kuko

(Spoilers - but no images - for evolved Sasara card!)

I've got a document explaining this and I put it on to TV Tropes's Fridge page, but Sasara's class progression to a Sage is a reference to the Gadabout class in Dragon Quest 3. The Dragon Quest 3 character occasionally causes the enemy to lose turns via making them laugh, which is something Sasara’s Ability does.

The reason he's a Street Performer is kind of lost in translation - Sasara would normally be called a 芸人 (“performer”, “entertainer” etc.) in Japanese and 大道芸人 is a 芸人 who performs on the 大道 (“main street”).

A cliche of ninjas is for them to make a pose and concentrate, which is indeed what Kuko does for his Ability.

Translation Diaries - April Fool's Edition

Instead of a card, it's April Fool's week, so I've got an item description this time.

...I love this one. It's got such subtle shade to it.

The Facial Cleanser says to not forget to check your personal appearance. However, the word for "personal appearance", midashinami, includes paying attention not just to looks, but also to your language to suit the time, place and occasion.

(If you don't get how this is subtle shade, in Japanese, it's much easier to tell who a person is by their pronouns, way of speaking and such on top of their actions. For example, Jiro often speaks in a rough casual tone, but Gentaro usually speaks (when speaking as himself and not narrating something or whatever) in a polite manner.)

Kuko says in his chant for the 2025 soul swap: "...この話は全てフィクション、最後にネタ晴らしがあるよ", although it's in katakana and backwards. This means roughly "...This is all fiction and contains spoilers for the end."

When you have multiple chibi characters on the map and one has the loudspeaker symbol indicating they have gems, if you tap one without gems (such as Riou in the image below), the character will jump. Note NPCs cannot be made to jump and if you get a character with a speech bubble with an ellipsis in it (like Samatoki in the image below), the character will instead say their dialogue.

Translation Diaries (66) - Exchanging Words and Drinks Gentaro

This one's pretty complex...

The original phrase was 言葉を酌み交わす (kotoba wo kumikawasu), which is a metaphor likening exchanging words with exchanging drinks. You can 言葉を交わす (exchange words) and 酒を交わす (sake wo kawasu, exchange drinks), but specifically, 言葉を酌み交わす implies through the sharing of words (like sharing meals, alcohol and such), the participants share their true feelings in a relaxed atmosphere, talking about anything from work stuff to personal stuff, and deepen their relationships with each other.

In comparison, the English translation can come off as a bit impersonal because it lacks this nuance (although when you look at the event story this card belongs to, you can see the implications of the phrase come through still).
