Translation Diaries (71) - HypMic Quest 7: Project Origin

There's nothing too notable about the titles of the cards themselves, but when you put all the card names together (like on the ARB database I maintain), you realise the pairs who were put together in this event (the leaders, the 2nd liners and the 3rd liners) have the same names for their cards. Thus, I had to tweak the translations of BB's to be consistent with what I'd done for MTC's (since MTC's cards were part 1).

The vinyls on Diggin's cover are 7-inch singles. Here's how you can tell:

Only 7-inch singles and 12-inch LPs come in 45 RPM (45 revolutions per minute, a faster speed for vinyls).

You can clearly see the names of some of the vinyls - Yokohama Walker, Shibuya Marble Texture - PCCS - etc., which are the names of the singles, not the albums they came on. (In fact, the vinyls contain each division's first division song.)

The name of the song Diggin' comes from the Japanese verb ディグる, itself coming from the English verb "dig". ディグる means "to dig for a record in a mountain of records at a record store", with its origins in DJs looking for a song they like in said mountain. This should explain the song's lyrics.

Japanese dog tags are oval in shape, similar to the US's. There are usually 2 with the same information, so that if one is removed, the other can still be used for identification purposes.

Translation Diaries (70) - Tendency to be Taken by UFOs Doppo

The source text actually said キャトられ体質 (lit. "The Tendency to Spontaneously Do Cattle Mutilation"). "Cattle mutilation" in this case doesn't refer to the act of bodily harm to cows, but rather the cliche of how UFOs take people, animals and such by beaming them up (it's known as such in Japanese because mutilating cattle is associated with UFO sightings).

The fish in front of Jakurai appears to be a red snapper. This is wordplay, as tai is "red snapper" and medetai means "auspicious".

If you list out FP, MTR, DH or BAT using their first names in romaji, they go in reverse alphabetical order. This contrasts BB, who go in alphabetical order, and MTC, who aren't in any set pattern.
