FILMS IN 2022: In the Mood for Love (2000) — dir. wong kar wai
“If you could order a crime as one orders a dinner, what would you choose?”
“A very simple crime. A crime with no complications. A crime of quiet domestic life… very unimpassioned — very intime… Supposing, that four people sit down to play bridge and one, the odd man out, sits in a chair by the fire. At the end of the evening the man by the fire is found dead. One of the four, while he is dummy, has gone over and killed him, and intent on the play of the hand, the other three have not noticed. Ah, there would be a crime for you! Which of the four was it?” - Agatha Christie, The ABC Murders

for @jiangwanyin // happy birthday, angie!! 💜
I love how irrelevant tumblr is. like no celebrities on here, no colleagues or family on here, no one’s famous off tumblr or making money, tbh no ones even updating the site like is there even any staff? who knows? it’s bliss
i’ve just been thinking about how english and americans online expect everyone to know their literature and poetry, their ~classics~ when literally every other country in the world also has an incredible and interesting literary history that is probably more relevant to it’s own citizens, like i’m not saying you shouldn’t branch out to intl lit because i think everyone should but that includes english first language speakers who have never picked up a translated book in their lives
