I actually really like the role Anthony plays in season 4. He's not right and he also not wrong. I thought it was very in character. He has softened with marriage, but people don't change completely when they become happier. They still have flaws. He has always been at least a little unreasonable about family, we even saw a bit last season with Lord Anderson and even John, to an extent.

This season he is definitely hot headed and overly harsh. He is underestimating Benedict, holding his past history with commitment against him. He is not listening to what Benedict is saying, assuming he himself knows best.

But he has a point. Benedict running off with a maid would have dire consequences for the rest of the family, and any family Benedict and Sophie would have. He actually seemed more worried about the type of life any potential child would have than anything else. Which in the book was actually Sophie's main worry. She would not bring another illegitimate child into the world because she knows first hand the life they would live.

I just wish people looked at things with nuance. But this is the internet, so.
