An alcoholic once said to me in an angry state: "If it weren't for my sense of humor, I'd be dead." I am interested in the way humor is used to avoid and/or escape the darker realities of life and how the very people who work hard to make us laugh are themselves dealing with their own their own issues. They use humor to overcome or move on. I especially like 20th Century physical comedians.

My parents have noticed me staying at home and in my room more and more, I can't help that I like being alone. I tried explaining this to them but they won't listen and keep trying to get me to go places, what do I do?
