Granting road and utility access is a federal decision that would allow the construction of a project that is considered by Grand Canyon National Park to be one of the gravest threats to the Park in its nearly 100-year history.

Water for the resort will likely come from groundwater pumping that would lower underground water levels and reduce flows of seeps and springs in the park, and in Havasu Canyon. This water currently supports wildlife and recreation on the Park’s South Rim, which is the most popular entryway for almost 5 million visitors each year. This water also supplies Havasu Creek, the Havasupai people, and some of the most beautiful and famous waterfalls in the world.

Water aside, the huge scale of this proposal will lead to significant, damaging impacts to the Forest, to the Park, to visitor experience, and to wildlife. It just doesn’t belong next to the Grand Canyon.

Please do not harm the Grand Canyon by allowing this harmful development at its doorstep. Please reject the Town of Tusayan’s application to build roads and utilities.
