A shadow of a thread... in a prior life, there were stories of red strings of fate that bound two souls together. Lovers’ tales that he hadn’t paid much mind to. Such stories had persisted even to this day, as romantic things were wont to do. Still, that she could see such things-- if she were not fooling him-- lent credence to the tales.

A hand raised, fingers spread. His expression softened briefly.

Why he offered up such personal facts, who knew. But she knew him to not be mundane and he knew the same of her. Perhaps it was just that.
