Weird concept to think about,
So I recently had an interview in a local hospital, and they asked all sorts of mind boggling questions and ones that confused the fuck out of me like uh- but one stuck out the most.
“Explain a time you went above and beyond or exceeded expectations.”
Afterwards going over all the questions and what I could’ve said to sound better or things I would have changed but this one I mainly thought about a lot. I just gave some example of where I taught other students things in a class of mine.
But really I mostly thought about how much I’ve come to not like this question. When you do something “over and beyond” or “exceeding expectations” nobody thinks of it that way in my opinion or maybe shouldn’t really.
Say you’re at a restaurant and someone can’t pay for their meal, or you see a veterans hat, or may they just look like their struggling, so, you decide to pay for their meal. You’re technically doing something “over and beyond” or “exceeding expectations” as a citizen.
But, you’re really just doing something to help another person and I think this can be applied to other things such as; doing more than you have to at work to help your company or a coworker, or doing something that will benefit you in some way, health or other ways rather than the bare minimum.
Super weird idea I just wish I would of said I something along these lines. Like doing these things that are “exceeding expectations” is really just helping someone, something, or yourself more than what’s “needed”.
What are your thoughts on this?
