I have questions about IDW Sonic if you don’t mind me asking.

How strict are the mandates exactly? I’ve heard that they have loosened up overtime (like with Shadow’s characterization) but I also would like to know what kind of things are or are not allowed to be written or used, I have two ones

1. Are human characters actually restricted from being used or were the staff just not interested in using them at the time? I would personally prefer humans still being seen because it helps the world feel more alive and plus we could get more stories centered around things like G.U.N

2. Are certain characters like Eggman Nega or Sticks also not allowed to be used. They are fully canon characters owned by Sega so it’s not like they’re legally not allowed to use them. It would be cool see those two characters and some others return. I think it has potential.

I'm a freelancer primarily, so I know only by my experience. 1. Despite popular belief the IDW sonic team can draw humans well and fine. Alot of us have experience working in animation or video games in addition to these comics, so we aren't against humans at all. (looks at DC x Sonic for instance). We don't oppose it and should an opportunity arrive, we'd love to draw it!

2. I don't know about ether of them sadly. I think Sticks is weird because she's a Boom character primarily and Sonic seems to be trying to get their canon timeline figured out first. Eggman NEGA is dead, I'm pretty sure, but that's MY personal theory. I don't know the official lengths of him or Sticks.

I mean no disrespect but the Archie and IDW comics don't understand Silver at all.

You guys unironically think he's the "frail psychic" type that's clumsy and weak and can't handle going fast because of his powers which is not true and has never even been implied (He can fly at the same speed as Sonic, he's as strong as Shadow when they fight and he became a professional ice skater among other things that prove he's not frail and clumsy)

Your idea of his personality is just how people made fun of his English voice acting for sounding whiny and nerdy. Silver does not talk the way he does in the comics.

You make Silver shy, soft and polite like Trunks when those are the parts of Trunks that Silver isn't supposed to have because Silver's personality is about being straightforward, honest and hot-headed. (The Sonic Rivals games are not out of character, they're consistent with how Sonic Team writes him in the games in the original Japanese game scripts and Sonic Channel because they were written by Takashi Iizuka) The honest part is also why he's not putting on a facade or anything and is rude/impolite as a character.

I don't mean to sound mean when I say this but you guys only seem to know Silver from parodies and easily disproven assumptions.

I work with what SEGA approves.
