The work of Cameroonian-born artist Ludovic Nkoth is informed by events in his life that led him to migrate to the United States at the age of thirteen. Having left his family in Cameroon, Nkoth found solace and comfort in the creative process while being raised primarily as a stranger in a strange land, where he began to reconsider his own culture to (re)locate his identity. Nkoth's work presents a highly personal view of Africa, his family history, and the immigrant experience of displacement in one's adopted country.

Water Drop

Water Drop offers a contemplation of Mizuno's personal history. In the center of this large ceramic piece, the artist used his hands to gouge out a depression, leaving traces of the shapes of his fingers. The Japanese character repeated across the surface of the work means "zero," "null,» "void," or "nothingness," but also refers to the name of the fighter planes used by the Japanese in World War II. Mizuno's father died in the war, before the artist was born, and this series addresses his sense of loss.

The Ring Lamp originated as part of the Visiona installation and is a modular lighting element for wall or ceiling with a highly decorative character. Panton liked to use this lamp on a large scale and created impressive lighting effects with it, but used individually or in small groups the Ring Lamp also developed a strong presence in the room. GE-OFF SPHERE HANGING LIGHT

In 2000, architect and designer Ron Arad designed the Ge-Off Sphere Hanging Light using rapid prototype technologies (also known as 3D printing). Here, he deploys this technology to reimagine the ceiling lamp as a flexible, adjustable form. Printed in polyamide, the lamp can be stretched or compressed by hand, allowing the user to customize its shape, depending on the needs of a room. The central bulb reflects light upward or downward, illuminating the coils, whether unraveled or stacked, above or below it.
