Frank knew pretty damn well how to hide. To stay hidden from view, from those who wanted him dead. From those he didn't want to see him. Sure, he had his slip-ups, but that was natural. Human. It wasn't like he could stop that shit from happening, but at the very least he wasn't parading around what he did.
One of those screw-ups just happened to occur after a bad meeting with a villain. One of those ones who thought they were hot shit, hurting civilians and causing mass destruction. Frank thought he had it covered, but one wrong move and he ended up hit with some fallen debris, keeping him out in the open and vulnerable to whoever happened across him.
If some hero decided to come across him, he could act all innocent, sure, but the guns he had on him weren't going to be an easy explanation. But, hell, he would rather not be stuck under some chunk of building.
Aoyama was on his way back from work, another long day of making just enough money to eek by. It was just his luck that a villain attack happened on his route to the bus, forcing him to find another way around it. He heard the distant cheers of the heroes defeating another despicable villain, and his stomach clenched. His pace quickened away from the growing wave of guilt that loves to keep him company.
He almost missed the man laying, covered in a worrying amount of blood, too far away for any heroes to notice or medics to reach any time soon. "Oh no. That's not good at all."
But he just stared on, no real hero instincts in him, and whatever emergency medical knowledge was taught to him had been lost over the years. He just stood there, staring at the man, paralyzed with indecision.
What the fuck is this kid’s problem?
That was his first thought as he noticed the man standing just a little ways away from him, simply staring at Frank. Had it been a quick glance, the vigilante would have let it pass by, but the kid was staring.
It wasn’t like Frank was recognisable. Unless he had suddenly made news across the world, which he was doubtful of. His case didn’t seem particularly interesting, aside from the whole managing to fake his death twice thing.
The blood had probably just scared the guy. It’d make anyone unwell, so long as they had the common sense of most men. Which… Frank did not have. Then again, he had survived his fair share of fighting. A little blood was nothing against the shit he had seen fighting.
Frank made an attempt to push the debris off of himself, though with the injuries he had sustained, he found it futile.
He should help. A good person would help. That was the right thing to do. There was someone in trouble and no one else was there to see it and he had the ability to do something if he could just move-
Aoyama stumbled forward, as if he was pushed rather than taking a step. "Do you, um, sorry if this is intruding or anything, I don't- um." He closed his eyes tight, like he was scared of the phrase itself. "Do you need help?"
Well, at least the kid decided to help. After Frank had decided that he would have to continue waiting, but at least he was getting help. He thought.
The bad thing about being in Japan, was that Frank did not know nearly enough of the language to fully grasp what was being said. At the very least, he did know some. “Yes.” If the guy wasn’t asking if he needed help, he was fucked. And had probably agreed to some stupid thing. It wouldn’t be the first time.
He jolted, surprised that his offer was accepted. Now he had to figure out what to do next. It took him a moment to take in the scene. He didn't have nearly enough muscle to lift the debris off him, but he had to get creative when lifting heavy things at his job. This he could handle. Probably. Hopefully.
After a minute or two of searching he found a sturdy piece of wood, which he wedged under the rubble to topple it off. Luckily it landed away from the stranger, though he forgot to aim it anywhere particular. "Is that, um, better?"
Frank stared at the man, a confused look on his face. He was trying to get a grasp on what the hell was being said to him, but the language was slipping through his fingers. Instead of asking a question, he just nodded. That seemed right.
At the very least, he was able to get up, practically hobbling with the action. There was definitely a broken bone in there, but Frank didn’t have time to think about that. Going to any sort of hospital would be risky, especially if they were aware of what he was doing and his possession of guns.
Seeing the man stand, despite his injures, made Aoyama realize how big he was. What was also scary was the lack of outward pain he expressed from the still-bleeding wound. Still feeling the urge to help, he took off his ratty cardigan - one he should've tossed out years ago - and placed it over where there was the most blood.
Then, losing the last shreds of courage he had, he gave a thumbs up and then scurried away, hoping never to run into the stranger ever again, no thank youuuu. That was Scary.
