Something I want to stress to my teenage followers
Something I wish someone had told me when I was a teenager: age brings clarity. There are some lessons only time can teach you. There are some experiences that won’t make complete sense until you look back when you are older. And this is ok. So many kids now days are rushing to grow up when really they should let things happen at their own pace because once you grow up, it’s a one way trip
these were my tags but imma put them here: i really wish i believed this in highschool. i was convinced it was a copout answer, that people just wanted to see me make mistakes, or didn’t care enough to tell me themselves, or that they didn’t want me to prove them wrong because I DID know what i wanted and I was gonna PROVE IT TO THEM, etc.
While it was ok to have aspirations I really bought right into that fervent “I’ll show you I’ll grow up RIGHT NOW” problem even though I benefited from literally having no responsibilities (except putting dishes away which I threw a fit about lol) it’s honestly very scary in retrospect how unstable we really become during that time.
it really is a one way trip. once you see it and get it, you can never unsee it. you can’t go back to that kind of “blissful ignorance” 100%
I also want to add that a lot of times, it’s the adult and authority figures in your life that make you feel like you need to grow up immediately. Learn to take a step back from the pressure and recognize that they might be adding to your stress. This post is in no way to make any of you feel bad if you honestly want to grow up fast, but those thoughts probably come from somewhere and it’s really important to take breaks from the rush and buzz to think about your mental and emotional state.
Time is a weird thing, but do your best to slow down occasionally.
