i love that everyone agrees that this drama is the best generic kdrama ever and it’s so predictable and full of cliches it’s ridiculous but we’re still eating it all up
Kang Tae Moo's crush on Hari is bigger than Mt. Everest like the way he got upset when she asked about the emergency because he wanted her to talk to him like he wanted to chat with her. Then he asked her out for dinner for NO REASON. they had no reason to meet that day and then he got upset when she had to be out on a trip because she had a bruised eye which would not interfere with any work in the LEAST and then he called her again and when he found out that she was home rushed to take her some medication because he was genuinely concerned about her eye like he's the CEO and his grandpa could've had the medicines delivered easily but the BUSY Kang Tae Moo who has schedule in breathing because he's so busy rushed to HER to give her those medicines in person! And he definitely enjoyed buying her that dress and that fireworks show and he LOVED blowing that candle with her like YOU know lover boy was gonna dream about it at night and blush under the covers if NOT for the big reveal. He's so head over heels for her and this is just the 4th episode and he doesn't even know about her other food geek personality yet which we KNOW will just have him be even more smitten by her!!!

I’m so in love with Business Proposal and just because it’s a cliche drama. I may even dare to say that I know how it will end, but even so I love to follow each episode and vibrate with the interactions of the characters. Mondays and Tuesdays have never been so good!

How can I sleep when Du Shik froze mid-sentence reading her that poem because it described too closely his own feelings for her ? When she grabbed his shirt even though they were sat next to each other on the sofa ? When Hye Jin doesn't feel the appeal of seoul anymore because her heart is in Gongjin and everything seems better if Du Shik is around ? When he saw her run to him in the middle of the night to confess how much she loved him and he doesn't even know yet that she did that AFTER Seong Hyeon confessed and she picked Du Shik anyway ? When they basically haven't not been by each other's side in many many episodes ? When she smiled that sly smile when telling him his clothes will be too big for her and then only think of things that will fit him as she goes shopping ? When she stayed by his side through his grandpa's memorial even though the whole town didn't ??

am i the only one who really liked the way seonghyun confessed? like, i know sikhye happened and we are all collectively losing our minds because of it, but can i just talk about this scene for a bit?
for me, personally, it’s probably one of the more realistic confession scenes i’ve witnessed in any media. the nervousness and stuttering. asking hyejin to help him so he can move forward with his thoughts in a way that can help him stay focused on what he wants to say?
i feel genuinely bad for our second lead, watching him muster up his feelings as courageously as he can, but i love how down to earth he is about it. that he isn’t hiding behind a bravado or effortlessly having this conversation with hyejin. he’s scared and vulnerable, as any person would be, and i love this scene all the more for it.
it’s the little flourishes in our characters, these small things, the attention to the finest detail in inflection and body language that make these scenes that are mainstays in any romance, kdrama or not, hit closer to home and make this drama feel more like us watching their lives unfold organically in gongjin that us trying to live vicariously through the characters lives.
I like the fact that when Hye Jin hugged him, Du Shik didn't spend 30 minutes being shocked by her hug. Sure, he is a bit surprised but he quickly recovers and hugs her back as if it was the most natural thing in the world to do.
They're not even dating guys.
In most k-dramas, when one of the main lead hug the other, the other lead usually either stay stunned for an insanely long amount of time before reciprocating very hesitantly or they don't respond at all.
I've even seen cases where the leads already were in a relationship and the one getting hugged didn't even respond??
Of course I understand if it's part of their character to be like that but, most of the time, that is not the case. I don't know about you guys but if someone I care about hugs me, I hug them back.
So, to see Hong Du Shik returns her embrace so easily, as if he had done so a million times, that was truly refreshing.
I feel like the acting in this drama is much more realistic than others, they don't tend to exaggerate their reactions and instead we get to see the characters's micro-expressions. This, in my opinion, makes the show more enjoyable to watch and you can appreciate the characters's reactions more, especially the big ones because it helps the viewer realize that what happened has truly impacted them.
The thing with why the second lead doesn’t have as much weight here in Homecha when compared to some other shows is that- sunbae just ~happened~ to be in Gongjin and ~happened~ to meet Hyejin. He hadn’t met her in a decade and only by coincidence met her again. It’s not like he made the decision to find her and confess his feelings. He just happened to be in a workplace where he happened to meet her and then was nice to her. Don’t mind me, I do love sunbae with his sweetness and impromptu fun ideas ala Na PD style. But he doesn’t have as much weight as a second lead when compared to say- Reply me second leads who are notorious for the “are they or aren’t they getting the girl”, or even the regular k drama romcoms like You’re Beautiful, where you know the second lead won’t get the girl, but at least they pulled their weight in the romance in a hefty way. Anyway I’m just grinning like a fool in my corner whenever the Lalalalaalalalala and our Dusikie oppaaaa comes on the screen. Sunbae is but just a momentary interesting character thus.
just me thinking about hometown cha cha cha again because i have no patience or self control :)
and the scene i cannot stop thinking about today is the hug at the end of ep 8 but not the hug exactly, instead the fact that Du Shik saw that Pyo Mi Seon was there watching the filming but Hye Jin wasn't so he was actually on his way to the clinic to pick her up. Cause he had no idea she had already left and was on her way. His plan was to go there and and get her to leave work since it's really late, probably using some other lame ass excuse as to why he's there ("biOLoGicAl cRiSIs" sir plz sTOP-), and walk her back home or to the filming.
