Going back to school had been on my mind for a long time. But I had trouble finding a program that I felt would not pigeonhole me to one role or experience. I wanted something that would give me skill sets that would be useful working in Higher Ed as well as running my production company. The icing on the cake was that MSEI has opened up new doors that I never would have thought to walk through. Going back to school in your mid 30s is no joke, but for me, it was worth the wait. So Salt Lake City is interesting. Had the most random and sobering conversation with a couple folks about their experience living in Salt Lake. One dude shed light on the eminent housing crisis, the homelessness lawsuit, and the other talked about the isolation stemming from the culture that isn't accepting to transplants. There's a lot to like here from the outside looking in. Lots of small businesses, beautiful homes, and of course my favorite thing is finding diners and coffee shops in the middle of neighborhoods. I'd definitely like to come back and see how the city responds to it's rapid growth. As a visitor, it's been a pretty great experience overall. Know when to shut it down. I don't remember ever having to rest so much in one year, but here we are. Spent the last two weeks not editing, not writing, not recording, and arguably not thinking. When it was time to go home, like clockwork I got my second wind. Or third? I've lost count. But I'm really excited to be home so I can revisit the ideas I started working on before I left with fresh eyes and ears.
