Here is the assumption base on our research
Small CBD and residential area build around albany west and south, auckland port have been moved to manukau, new land reclaim will probably connect to devenport. Three bottleneck will be appear between north and city, west and city, south and city.
In the night there will be no people in the city, in the morning all the people come from north, west and south to the city.
The picture above shows the new plan of auckland we have come up and the second picture shows the main part we gonna design for the future auckland.
Reset research direction
For the design to improve Auckland public transport and the research we found to support our design is all current research, in terms of our future goal is to apply this into the real world, the system will take time to develop and actually run, that would take years to finish the process. That would probably make our idea not suitable for that time.
What we are going to do next is try to make a prediction and assumption of what will Auckland look like 20years later, and find out what will be the transport problem for that time. It is a speculative design because no one can predict the future.
The method to back up our assumption is we try to look back, like past 10 years, how and why Auckland from 2008 to 2018 and find out the trend of Auckland transform the predict the future.
Something big
Here we are back to studio 6
At this semester we are going to look into the Auckland public transport especially the bus.
We have an Idea to improve the bus services in Auckland:
1.the bus station can analyze how many people are in the station and where they are going and what time they need to arrive. Then the data would go into the system, the system will dynamically distribute the bus and change the bus route to achieve the highest efficiency.
2.in the future, bus goers will not be taking off the bus to transfer to the other bus, the bus will collect destinations of the passengers when the other bus is driving on the same road and going to the destination that the previous bus have passengers willing to go, two buses will connect together then the passengers can complete the transfer without taking off.
To back up these two ideas, we need to research a lot, we will have to understand why Auckland public transport is kind of so bad, why some of the other ideas of future public transport failed at the end and what is the mindset of the users of the public transportation. Also, we have to know what is the advantage of our system against the current system.
The whole garden have been set up today, all the function have been tested and working quite nicely. We will try our best to keep the plant alive until the open studio and we have made a instruction on those functions that maybe stop working when the assessment is going. Although our video explain a little bit about the context and concept, we still have the whole contextual and conceptual statement attached on the wall. Since we do not have a spare or can’t arrange a laptop or Tv the video have been upload to YouTube and post on the blog, for easy access we have make a QR code that can direct you to the video and attached on the wall.
Here is the video that have all the information about the garden we have built.

Function implementation and test
Finally, the moving floor function get into working, although it is not perfect, for example the wheels on the same board would spin in different speed causing the board turn a little bit, sensor still confusing each other a little bit. But I think it is enough to prove the concept.
A video in processing, you can find all the information about the interactive garden we have designed, and it would also act as a contingency plan if the function in the garden goes offline in the examination or open studio.
So since the idea have changed a little bit. Here is the test out today. So the way to activate the system is not really intuitive. Still working on that. And also have a little think about how does this function prove the concept. Have the audience have the ability to configure their garden.
Since the original moving floor is very hard to complete due to my coding limits, and physics I have ignored and did not aware of at the beginning. I have come up a plan B when I was testing the sensor today. So the moving floor stays the same which means the floor would still move to create a path for the users, but rather than create the floor automatically it will be controlled by the users, so the users can create the path by their imagination. Also, because I have no time to assemble another floor which means I will still use the floor I have completed, there are some limite here, because the floor is designed module by module which means the user will not have a lot of flexibility to move the floor around.
